Will Carroll of Baseball Prospectus says the Red Sox, Pirates and Marlins have agreed to a three-team Manny Ramirez deal, pending Ramirez waiving his no-trade clause and league approval.
Carroll, not normally one of our preferred sources, has the Red Sox getting Jason Bay and John Grabow; the Marlins acquiring Ramirez, cash and a prospect from the Red Sox and the Pirates picking up Jeremy Hermida, two prospects from the Marlins and one from Boston.

The Red Sox, Marlins and Pirates are discussing a three-way trade involving Manny Ramirez, but a source with knowledge of the discussions said at 11 p.m. ET Wednesday that he was “not confident” a deal would get done.

In one possible scenario, the Marlins would trade outfielder Jeremy Hermida and right-handed pitching prospect Ryan Tucker for Ramirez, and the Red Sox then would flip Hermida and prospects to the Pirates for left fielder Jason Bay and possibly left-handed reliever John Grabow.

The players in the deal, however, remain fluid, according to the source, who described the names as “not set.”

...”They won’t move Manny,” one rival exec says. “No one is going to give them anything for him. And they know they can’t win without him.

“All they have to do is put up with him for two more months. It will quiet down in a few days, there will be hugs and kisses and he’ll be gone at the end of the season.”

Not just Rosenthal, either

Everyone except for BP and Rotoworld has this pegged at somewhere between iffy and outright denied. I think they jumped the gun.

Everybody seems to be trading their brains out 'cept us. We coulda had LaTroy Hawkins!

Actually, I was amazed to see that the Yerks got anybody from the ‘Stros for LaTroy, who has been LaSucking LaBigtime. Never liked him.

I’m with duck— still baffled that nobody wants Huff. And Sherrill, B-Rob, Millah? I’ve also been assuming JayPay’s disappearing PT has been handwriting on the wall. And who needs Occam’s Hernandez with The Messiah of Catchers, Barack Wieters, coming up in 6 weeks?

I think MacPhail and the O's purposely overvalued their players

See if they can get anyone to overpay. No one bit.

Now the fans can go back to sleep for the remainder of the season, turn to football, or whatever, and hope this team continues to try to improve in the off season.

I'm OK with that

Better deals can be had in the winter. Would we have gotten what we go for Bedard in July of last year?

Manny's not getting traded

How many times have we been through this same thing?

That's pretty funny!

Yes!!!

Apparently Oklahoma City will have a team in 2011-2012 and I’ll get to see a old as Manny in the twilight of his career.

What I don't get

Is why do the Pirates and Marlins need to include Boston? If you were Florida, wouldn’t you rather have Grabow and Bay for a year and a half than Manny for a half year???

Guess it could have to do with the money, but still….

Heyman is now saying it looks good

in a posting here.

So now, either way it goes, he can say he was right 24 hours before it actually happened. Or didn’t happen.
