Orioles Lineup 2010?
I don't know how real this rumors of a Sherril/Roberts trade are. But if that happens, this lineup is basically the most exciting thing I could ever imagine.
2B- Rickie Weeks
SS- J.J. Hardy
RF- Nick Markakis
1B- Mark Texiera (probably wont happen, but...)
DH- Luke Scott
C- Matt Wieters
CF- Adam Jones
LF- Nolan Reimold
3B- Mike Costanzo
SP- Chris Tillman
SP- Jake Arrieta
SP- Jeremy Guthrie
SP-Rhadames Liz
SP- Garret Olson/ Mastutz?

Can't say at this point
I’m terribly excited about Rickie Weeks. I know he’s talented.
Welcome to Camden Chat Ben Feldman.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Rickie Weeks
Is never going to have shiny numbers, but if he can keep his average in the .240 range, he can really be a hell of a player. He’s no Brian Roberts, but we’re going to lose him anyway, and we have a total vacuum in the minors at the middle infield. Even hitting .220/.330./400 Weeks is better than what we’ve got coming up, and to add Hardy in there…

Should really just be a ? instead of Costanzo, he really isn’t looking like he will be a major league regular.
Also the rotation will most likely be (IMO)
1) Guthrie (experience and just a smart pitcher)
2) Matusz (already our best pitching prospect and should move FAST, but 2 might be ambitious)
3) Olson (major league experience really helps)
4) Tillman
5) Arrieta
– Liz to the back end of the bullpen to sure up things
The best news is that if things dont pan out with these guys we have Erbe, David Hernandez, Spoone (unless his shoulder dooms him), Beato, or Daniel Cabrera could very well still be an Oriole.
There is no substance to the rumor but its good to dream.

Liz as a reliever?
He has the stamina to throw 100+ pitches a game, so he’s more of an innings eater like Cabrera is at this point. He walks too many guys for him to be a back end bullpen guy and he doesn’t have the command to be a closer. Until those things improve, he’s a still a #4 starter. Who knows if things will improve for him in the future though.

I would like to see him stick as a starter
But a lot of the places i’ve seen think that he is destined for the bullpen. You give him a couple years to learn how to start, but if it fails then he could end up in the pen (think Matt Albers).

I still think
Kranitz can fix him. His main flaw (as, I believe, is the same with D-Cabs) is his tendency to fall away, to the left, after his delivery. Kranitz has helped Danny with that and can help Liz. Also, Kranitz’s method of preaching to a pitcher’s strengths rather than force a be-all,end-all philosphy (I’m looking at YOU, Leo) seems to be the right call with our current collection of pitchers. I think Liz is fixable and usuable as a starter. I don’t see him as Loewenesque.

Don't bash Loewen too much
The man is still 22 and just gets injured every time he throws a baseball. Only partially his fault.

I'm not assigning blame
I’m not saying Adam’s problems are of his own making. But he has never shown, on the MLB level, an ability to consistently get hitters out, even when healthy. He’s been force-fed into the rotation due to the ridiculous contract the O’s caved and gave him. I see Liz as a pitcher maturing into a starter at a not-unreasonable pace, much like Garrett Olson. They’re taking their lumps, but showing they can do this. I’m still not sold on Burres. But I can totally see Liz and Olson in the rotation for some time to come, and getting better all the time.

Don’t bash Loewen too much … The man … gets injured every time he throws a baseball.
There is nothing about this that I don’t hate.

Agreed!
I still have faith for him as a starter. As a #1-3, not so much, but a bottom of the rotation innings eater with a potential #3 arm, yes.

Quite honestly....
if he pitches again for the O’s, I will be pleasantly surprised. I am expecting catastrophic news from his MRI, and fully anticipate his pitcher career to be over. I hope I am wrong.

Not Albers, but Liz
Albers, yeah, he could be done. We’ll see what happens. Nothing’s wrong with Liz, right?

Right
When i said the Matt Albers thing I wasn’t referencing his injury. I meant that last year he was a starter for Houston but wasn’t very effective. Then once he was moved to the pen he became very effective.

Liz is physically fine
I’m expecting the worst for Loewen, although Albers’ shoulder injury doesn’t fill me with confidence HE will ever return in a meaningful way, either.

i believe suggested a roberts/sherrill for weeks/hardy would be a good move.

That fat load clogs up the bases and hits rally-killing home runs. I don’t want to hear of it.
