Jays 9, O's 8: Memories are made of this

Martin-dean-photo-dean-martin-6204560_medium Take one freaking awful call
Add a strike that was a ball
One game, one ump
Smart as Forrest Gump
Memories are made of this

Don't forget this dopey goof
Calls a game like it's a spoof
17 walks, 23 Ks
"That's good!" so he says
Memories are made of this

Then add the total goat
A guy you wanna choke
Two fielding gaffes for the flavor
Wonder where Scott Moore has gone
A trip from Norfolk's not that long
Replacement level would be a savior

With his blessings from above
There have come a few things to love
Center fieldcloser
One less
hoser
Memories are made of this
Memories are made of this

Statstical lesson reiterated in this game: MLB needs to institute the Blown Hold.

Sure, Olson deserved to suck up this L, and bigtime. He was awful. But for what it’s worth, the guy who won this game also gave up 7 ER. Put otherwise, the proximate cause of the actual loss here was not Olson, but Cormier—and the penalty for this should be a BH.

Even the “mop up guy” should have a category of risk/reward beyond ERA. If his team miraculously wins after his departure, as ours almost did last night - although “almost” is a very elastic word for the Orioles - he should get a Hold or something to indicate the critical part he played in making the succesful outcome possible.

In other news, Sid sobered up long enough to pitch a strong 6 (1 ER 3 K) for the Yerks. He owned the old , bad Debbil Rays , if you recall; I figure maybe he now lacks the brain cells to realize they’re become good since he was, er, away.

In other other news, It’d be nice to see Guts not get shtupped by a sudden chill from the currently-hot-hitting O’s, and even nicer to see Halladay have to work for his K’s tonight, wouldn’t it? Toward the latter end, let’s keep track of how many homer calls Halladay gets tonight on balls and strikes. For whatever reasons, plate umpires calling his games - and especially in the Poiteness Dome - just seem to feel a real hankerin’ for that good ol’ home cookin’. It’s outrageous.

Go O’s! And in final other news—nice song, Dino!

Halladay got bumped

Cito is saving him for this weekend vs. the Yanks. Instead, we get John Parrish. Maybe Cito’s not such a bad fella after all. ;)

Thx, that's good news for Guts and us. As to Monsieur Gaston: He still sucks!

how about replay...

for plays that have a direct impact on the score… HR’s and plays at the plate. I don’t care if the god damn game is 6 hours long… Get the call right. I mean at least on those two there wouldn’t be this “I’m gonna stop running because I thought it was foul”, or “I’m gonna let the ball go because it was foul” when the ump calls it fair.

BTW, on the Razor shot to right that scored Mora(?), what the hell was he doing coming out of the box. He hits it and stands there like “which way did it go, George, which way did it go?”

If you don’t know, wouldn’t it make sense to… i dunno… RUN!!! You dumb mf’er!!!

It was sort of funny to hear the Toronto announcer saying "He's lost the ball completely"--

a phrase normally used in reference to fielders, whereas in our case, naturally, it was a batter.

So why was Razor sort of admiring the view instead of running? Um, I think j.q. is right, and that may have been the moment when I finally stopped confusing Ramon with Stephen Hawking.
