Gameday Thread: O's (56-62) @ Indians (54-64)
Baltimore Orioles @ Cleveland Indians
7:05 / MASN2 :: 76° :: Wind in from CF - 5 MPH :: Rain - 20%
Today's Starting Pitchers GS IP ERA WHIP BAA HR BB K W-L Jeremy Guthrie - RH 25 163.0 3.26 1.17 .238 18 44 102 9-8 Anthony Reyes - RH 1 (11) 21.0 3.86 1.29 .280 2 4 14 3-1
Anthony Reyes came over from St. Louis in a trade on July 26, and he'll get a chance to become a long-term part of the Cleveland rotation after falling out of favor in St. Louis. Maybe he could become like another guy that fell out of favor somewhere and was sent packing.
Imagine if the Indians had Guthrie last year with Sabathia and Carmona.
I'd really like to split this series. Or at least win one game. Here's our big chance!

2-0 Good Start
Who would have thought that Aubrey Huff would have 25 HR’s at this point in the season? That’s why I love this game.

Guts rocks. Pretty much the reason to tune in every fifth O's game.
On the other hand, I wish I’d been watching last night’s Sawx-Rangers game.

Oh no! Melmo bunted!
And even worse, he got on with a base hit.
This will likely give him ideas.
Look for more bunts from Melmo at the least opportune times.
BTW, why would someone who has been as hot as he is, with the power stroke at times, bunt?
SUch is the Zen like mystery of our man Melvin.

This just in: Commercialization has struck the Yerks.
Listening to the Moose game last night , I discovered that the team has sold the rights to its press box and, even better, New York Presbyterian is The Official Hospital of the New Yerk Yawkees. I guess they’re expecting a lot of bench-clearing brawls…

Millar's smart...
Luke’s obviously out of shape and has a lousy body (overused O’s joke!) ... so after he exerted himself so much Millar recognizes that he could use a breather and went over to “talk to guthrie” – probably making fun of luke. THE LITTLE THINGS!

In the 69 starts NOT made by Guthrie or Cabrera
The other guys have averaged:
5 IP
3.6 ER (6.54 ERA)
Replace 25 of those starts with another Guthrie (6.5 IP, 2.4 ER), and the O’s are probably 5-6 wins better, or about even with the Yanks.

Any chance of that Bergesen coming up?
I mean, there’s no way he could do worse than the trash we’re throwing out there every 3rd, 4th, and 5th day

I think they are waiting for Penn
They really want to avoid calling pitchers up from AA.
Bergesen would almost certainly struggle in the majors, considering he isn’t missing many bats in AA.
