Baltimore Orioles @ Cleveland Indians

Today's Starting Pitchers GS IP ERA WHIP BAA HR BB K W-L
Daniel Cabrera - RH 25 158.0 4.78 1.47 .269 19 71 89 8-7
Zach Jackson - LH 0 (2) 3.2 4.91 1.91 .313 0 2 1 0-0

Jackson was acquired in the C.C. Sabathia trade, and this will be his first appearance for the Indians. He was 3-1 with a 4.05 ERA in eight appearances (four starts) at Triple-A Buffalo since the trade. He had a couple of relief outings in Milwaukee earlier this year.

Cabrera has been up-and-down lately, with three bad starts in his last five, but he threw six shutout innings against the Rangers last time out. If he can help us win one today, we salvage a split with Cleveland. But since the O's have never seen Jackson before, consider me worried about a win.

Isolated thunderstorms in the Cleveland area tonight

We might get a delay or two, but we probably got an entire game to listen to tonight…

Ugh. He’s going to drive that poor kid right to a nervous breakdown.

I'm torn because I obviously want Dennis to do well

and not hate himself, but if he shows even a glimmer of promise, they’ll just throw him out there again.

Can I just say

I love male gymnasts. They are so strong! How are they so strong? With the rings? And the pummel horse? and when they spin themselves around on the floor with only their hands touching the ground? Unbelievable.

The Nats pick?

Is that Independent League? Does that mean he won’t be going to the Nats?

[Guthrie's] president of my heart. ~PhilR8

by Stacey on Aug 14, 2008 8:10 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

no, it's a negotiating ploy

He’s still eligible to sign with the Nats.

Wolf, wolf, wolf.

by birdman on Aug 14, 2008 8:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Just a negotiating ploy

And a stupid on at that.

He can still sign with the Nats.

by dkdc on Aug 14, 2008 8:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah,

i don’t think signing with the fort worth cats is going to hasten his payday.

by zknower on Aug 14, 2008 8:12 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

he can still sign with the Nats.

But if he doesn’t he now has a job in the independent league.

My guess is, he’s posturing. But maybe it’ll prod the Nats to move things along.

by zknower on Aug 14, 2008 8:11 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Castro is not what you call a good bunter

Why is he bunting this early in the game anyway?

[Guthrie's] president of my heart. ~PhilR8

by Stacey on Aug 14, 2008 8:16 PM EDT   0 recs

Because he's a 229/267/333 career major league hitter

He’s basically a pitcher.

We should DH for him when Guthrie is pitching.

by dkdc on Aug 14, 2008 8:17 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

well he sucks at bunting.

so he might as well swing

[Guthrie's] president of my heart. ~PhilR8

by Stacey on Aug 14, 2008 8:19 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

hey DD?

Stop bunting guys who can’t bunt.

You’re looking stupid.

by zknower on Aug 14, 2008 8:16 PM EDT   0 recs

the hell is wrong with MASN/MASN2

I’m getting weird audio on the Nats game, and a ton of problems on the O’s game.

No offense to olympic volleyball players

But I’d rather watch some other event. Or even beach volleyball. Why do I always have to wait until after 10 for swimming and gymnastics?

[Guthrie's] president of my heart. ~PhilR8

by Stacey on Aug 14, 2008 8:30 PM EDT   0 recs

It's only 8:30 AM in Beijing

NBC managed to convince the Chinese to schedule all the popular sports as early as 10 AM so they could show them live in the US, but they wouldn’t go earlier.

This volleyball is tape delay. The US will win the 4th set 26-24.
