Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

From the Baltimore Sun.

Sherrill also was put on Waivers, but he didn't clear them and no trade was made, so he will be an Oriole through 2008.

The above four will be tradeable through August.

I wonder who claimed Sherril?

Red Sox? Yankees? Rays?

Somebody else that needs bullpen help?

Just about any team could find space on their roster for Sherrill

He gets paid nothing and he’s a pretty good reliever (though not great)

I'd love to see Huff go to Tampa

We could get a few young guys, maybe ONE really good prospect, but I’d also like to see Huff go to Tampa because at this point in his career, I think he should be winning. And Tamps would definitely like his help through September.

as discussed before...

huffy is hated in tampa. what about boston, though? lowell’s hurt, youkilis just got hurt…sending a one inning reliever to a division opponent is one thing, but would they do it w/ huff?

why is he hated in Tampa?

He was their only good player for years on end.

Or is it the same reason people hate him here? Personality goes a long way….

I think Huff said some shit about the team

either before he was traded or just after.

I don't know anybody that hates Mussina. The Orioles didn't show enough interest so he went somewhere that did.

He said very specifically that if the Orioles had seemed interested in signing him and had approached him in a timely manor it would have been an easy decision. The O’s didn’t and the Yanks did, so it was an equally easy decision.

Stop trying to rationalize it

He’s in pinstripes, end of story.

What about Minnesota?

I know it sounds weird being only one game back, but they may not want to go after it this year, but if they do….

No info on Ramon

I would’ve assumed he would clear waivers easily, and maybe some really desparate team would actually take him since C is always such a thin position and he’s having a good 2nd half so far. I could tolerate Quiznos for a couple months and a scrub next year for that kind of salary dump.

Millar to Boston?

http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/articles/2008/08/14/with_lowell_out_youkilis_trades_places/?page=1

I’m not against Millar being traded, but I don’t really want him going back to Boston. We all know that he’d rather be there, but as long as he doesn’t have the option of going back there, we can pretend…oh you know what, this sounds so pathetic.

let him go

Then he can go over there and stink and they might find themselves in a tough position if/when they have playoff roster decisions to make.

Huff left Tampa

before there was a fan to speak of.

Huff to Tampa, Millar to Sox

Who cares they’ll be retired before we need to worry about them. throw in walker and payton as a added bonus to one of the teams. If Mora clears he’s free to go as well.

We all know the O’s are going to hold onto these guys and one or two might will be back next year.

Any word on Roberts and waivers?
