Congrats to Melvin Mora, AL co-player of the week!

He shares the award with the ChiSox Javier Vazquez. After the week Melvin had, it's well deserved. Here are the details:

Last week, Mora hit .563 (18-32) with four doubles, a triple, three home runs and 13 RBI. He had six straight multi-hit games to close the week. The 36-year-old Mora posted a 1.031 slugging percentage along with a .556 on-base percentage. In a four-game series at Cleveland August 11-14, the two-time All-Star went 8-for-18 with two doubles and three RBI. In a weekend set at Detroit, Mora went 10-for-13 with a triple, two doubles, three home runs and 10 RBI, including 5-for-6 with two home runs and six RBI on Sunday. The Venezuela native is batting .286 with 20 home runs and 91 RBI on the season. Mora's .432 batting average (51-118) since the All-Star break is the highest in Major League Baseball. This marks Mora's second career weekly award (previous: 5/25/03).

It's fair to say that none of us expected Melvin capable of the numbers he's currently posting. He's so locked in right now that it's scary. As unlikely as it is, let's hope he can carry this career renaissance right on through next year because Melvin isn't going anywhere. Baltimore is his last stop.

i can’t recall, but is it pretty much fair to assume, at this point, that melmo and brian roberts are locks for the orioles HoF?

MELMO

Just cleared waivers, according to Rocket J. Rosenthal. Still, I don’t see him going anywhere, esp. with the no-trade clause.

i dunno...

tampa could probably use a 3rd baseman. especially one w/ such extensive playoff experience.

here comes the wave and the turn, here come the crash and the burn.
