Cal expanding his minor-league empire

Rays, Ripken join to buy Class A team

Kind of weird seeing Cal throwing out the first pitch in uniform other than the Orioles, since he never played for another major league team during his entire career.

I’m fine with it being the Rays, I guess, but I hope Ripken doesn’t decide to don a Boston jersey anytime soon. I think I’d puke.

Could Cal be working his way towards eventually buying the O’s? Sort of cutting his teeth on these minor league clubs to gain experience/prove he can run a profitable baseball club?
