Anybody know anything about U.S. Cellular Field?
I'm heading out to Chicago for business this week and it turns out I'll have some downtime on Thursday night, and the White Sox are at home taking on the Tigers. I was kind of "ehh" on going but then they got Griffey so now I'm definitely in.
Let me start out by saying that the ChiSox are morons with their pricing system. Every "price level" ranges from $15 or $20 all the way up to $40 or $50, which means that there is NO way to get cheap tickets through TicketBastard because it only ever offers you the best available seats in the price level that you select. So say I want to sit in the $18 seats in "Lower Box" ... too bad. Since Lower Box seats run all the way up to $50, if you want Lower Box, you get $50 tickets.
I guess I should also be bitching about TicketMaster not having a "price range" option.
Anyways, enough whining and on to the real reason for this post now that I'm over the character limit:
Is there any reason to think that I won't be able to get day-of-game tix for a Thursday night vs. the Tigers?
Are there any sections/areas/levels in U.S. Cellular that I should avoid when buying a ticket? Oh and what's the must-try food a la Boog's BBQ or Uncle Teddy's Pretzels?
FanPosts are user-created content and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors of Camden Chat or SB Nation. They might, though.

Yeah, it’s a concrete monster. And it started falling apart on their Opening Day their FIRST SEASON in it, 1991 – just one year before Camden Yards.

avoid upper level seats
they only allow access to the upper level and limit the experience of the ballpark. you will be able to get gameday tix, but with it being only the third game with Griff in town excpect to pay $30+ for decent seats (not in the UD or outfield)

whaaaaaaaaaaaat
You mean if you have upper level seats you can’t go to the lower concourse? That’s the dumbest shit I’ve ever heard. I was actually thinking of getting LF Club seats but the club concourse tends to give you too much of a polished/sterile version of the park and doesn’t give you a real feel for the ballpark. Granted I’ve only ever had club seats at two ballparks (OPACY and Arlington).

If you get lucky, you might be able to season ticker holder on craigslist who’s willing to dump a ticket way below the ticket price. I found a ticket for tomorrow game for $65 on stubhub that’s normally priced at $95. But you have to wait until the last mintue in order to find a desparate seller.

I know a little
It is in a part of town most pansies avoid, BUT the chances of anything happening are about 10 million to one. I mention this only because most people go, “Oh don’t go out by Sox Park!”
You’ll be fine. White Sox fans are an interesting bunch, though, let’s put it that way.

So you're saying
I shouldn’t wear my full Cubs uniform to the game?

I’ve been down there I don’t know how many times and not even been very close to the ballpark, just in that area. The most vile thing to ever happen was, “Hey, can y’all move your car? Thanks!”

Go to the bar in right field
The seats are just above the field – home run territory. Its a great place to get hammered, if a little pricey.
