Sherrill let up as manay hits in 1 IP
as Waters did in 8 IP.
And Waters can field his position pretty well.

Yup
Apparently, they have the same luck against rookie pitchers as we do.

'E's the Messiah!
Alright, so he’s not the messiah.
But, damn, that was fine!
So.
Novelty act or will he survive the league adjustment?
Probably novelty act
But he supposedly has 4 pitches, most of which move. You can live a long time on changing speeds and movement if you;re a lefty. Ask Jamie Moyer.

It’s not even a debate.

Nickname possibility...
-Mac’s take: What a pitching performance by Chris Waters. I did not see this kind of a game coming. Peter, even Steve Physioc (Angels’ announcer) was quoting you during the game. He used your quote “throwing Sarfate, Waters, and Olson against the Angels is like taking a poodle to Michael Vick’s house.” Then he said (and I quote) “the poodle is tearing up the pit bull right now”.Here’s to Chris “Poodle” Waters, who just took down the best team in baseball on 1 hit over 8 innings. Great game Chris!

That'll work

The O's running out of competent pitchers in the bigs,
preparing to call up Hayden Penn only to have him get hit with a broken bat, resulting in Penn getting Wally Pipped yet again, and that no-name pitcher one-hitting the best team in baseball over eight innings is …
Birdland!
"Mora looked pretty good running the bases tonight when he hit that home run," Dave Trembley.
Uh, no

waters is so very refreshing
plays D like guthrie. kind of wiry like guthrie.
Southguts.
Yes, I should say that, which, I should say that.
Southguts
3 more starts that are anywhere close to that and he earns the tag.

He and Luke should get along great
I listened to a postgame interview on xm this morning. This guy loves the Lord more than Luke does!
Federation experts agree:
A) God exists
B) He’s on our side
C) He wants us to win!
I like this one
Or perhaps “Holy” Waters? Is that too sacrilicious?

I don't want the word "Walk" anywhere near him...

Chris "Baptismal" Waters?
Holy Waters is my fave of all the above.
It has a nice ring to it, sort of like something Harry Caray would say.
Holy Waters, he struck out ARod with the bases loaded!
Holy Waters, he drilled Youkilis with that fastball!
etc.
I'm liking that.....
“Holy Waters, a no-hitter!”

I suppose I kind've walked into that
but is he a minor prospect or just a journeyman type?

He was signed as a minor league FA in 2006
before that he was in the Braves organization. He’s 27 and not a big prospect. He’s been in the minors for 9 years. He had some sort of surgery in 2004 that set him back a bit. He started the season at AA where he was totally lights out. Got promoted to AAA and didn’t do so hot, but he adjusted and pitched quite well his past 4ish starts. Nobody really expects him to keep up what he managed last night, though it was a beautiful thing to see.
"There is a value to breaking the string of losing seasons as an organization or as a franchise. But breaking that streak can’t come at the expense of doing what you need to do to get your franchise to the point where it can reach the postseason." ~Andy MacPhail
Thanks for the scouting report :)

3 years older than Garrett Olson...

I was at this game last night
Novelty act or not, it was great to see one of our pitchers last 8 innings and shut down a very good team in the Angels. It was my first time to Angels Stadium of Anaheim of Orange County of Los Angeles of Southern California, and overall, it was a good experience. Great game, but some of the fans were assholes (which you’ll always have) and the ushers were hardasses.
My girlfriend nabbed autographs from Markakis, Millar and Olson. This and my Trembley signed ball are going on the desk at my new LA office.
