Jays 8, O's 7: Yeah! Oh yeah! Oh yeah!
Ah, the ol' September Oriole fall-apart, condensed into one game. The Blow Jays play "anything you can do, I can do better," scoring five runs in one inning and then tap-tap-tapping away en route to VICTORY!
Aubrey Huff hit his 32nd homer and Scott Rolen fell a dong short of the cycle.
If the Jays today are Johnny Drama after "Five Towns" hit big, then the O's are Vincent Chase following the Cannes screening of Medellin.
Our starting rotation = terrible fat suit.

So what's the verdict on Entourage?
The new season isn’t catching me. It’s gonna be skippable pretty soon, if it isn’t already.
I mean, I’ll still DVR it, and I’ll probably watch it for a while, but I think it’s run its course.
The O’s? Definitely ran their course.
Entourage!
Fun show for two seasons as a cool-down after The Sopranos. Now they’re just a bunch of jerkoffs, but I’m enjoying this season as at least they’ve flipped the scenarios enough to make the show feel fresh again. At this point I watch it mostly because I’m used to watching it, like Scrubs, and The Office might reach that fate pretty quickly if this season isn’t any better than worn-out ass season four.

I liked The Office's fourth season
It had some bland moments, but it had some really great ones too (The Depositions and The Dinner Party come to mind). I also have strong hopes for amy ryan, though partly that’s probably because I was sitting there watching going “Beadie Russell! Beadie Russell!”
I think I’m in the same boat with Entourage and Scrubs. Scrubs especially. Dude, I’m a fan, but that shit needs to end.
Also, 30 Rock rules.
I'm ok with this one more season
Because that final NBC season was a fucking abomination. That was every single thing about the show that people that don’t like it say about it. Overbearing, unfunny, scattershot bullshit. I mean you can partly blame the writers strike, but considering they’ve been hit-or-miss since season four ended and we’re going into season eight, it’s hardly just that. I hope the final 18 on ABC give it a proper ending, at least. Like JD and Elliott being killed in a helicopter accident.

30 Rock gets better with each season
The Office on the other hand, is still pretty lukewarm. It definitely has it’s moments, but I don’t think it can compare to the original British version, which is one of the most flawless TV shows ever. The one thing I really like about the US version is Pam/Jim’s pranks on Dwight — classic stuff. But that dinner party episode everyone says is great — thought that was downright unwatchable.

Me too.
"This world extends way beyond this little field of dreams we're dancing in and I want to see that world"
The Office
I enjoy it, but it seems like a lot of the humor got really cruel this year. The dinner party episode made me squirm, but the worst was the deposition episode. It was just uncomfortable watching Michael get emasculated like that. And his sexist behavior has gone waaaaay over-the-top. There’s no way he could act the way he does and not get his ass kicked by somebody.
I love the British one, too
But I just can’t get behind the hatred of the US purely based on the comparison. The Office is still one of the best-executed sitcoms running on American TV today, and it should be commended on those merits.
Now, if this spinoff ruins it, you can feel free to rub this in my face.
Also, Beadie! Hooray! (my roommate and I used to text each other when we saw Wire actors on other stuff. that’s how excited we got. When he saw Frank Zbotka as a snuff film dude on that snuff film movie he actually called me. during watching the movie with his girlfriend).
The US version is better IMO
and not only the best sitcom on TV today, but the best show period. One thing that makes it better than the UK version (which is also great) is it was never believable that David Brent would’ve been promoted to anything. Michael has at least been shown to be competent at some aspects of his job from time to time.

we do get a glimpse of brent as a traveling salesman
He seems OK at it, if still incredibly annoying.
This is the “problem” (ie brilliance) with the concept. Wernham-Hogg (Dunder-Mifflin) is obviously a poorly-run company in order to have put Brent/Scott in charge of a branch, yet the same people who put him in charge suddenly decide that he’s no good? This is better handled by the UK, since Janet (is that her name?) gets promoted and then she and Neil decide to get rid of Brent (why is Neil always hanging around in Slough and messing with his authority?). In the US they can’t get rid of Michael, but Jan still gives him terrible performance reviews. Then they get rid of Jan and have to keep him.
I’m kinda talking in circles. I dunno if I’ve made sense or not.
there is almost never an episode of Entourage....
….in which Jeremy Piven doesn’t do something freakin’ brilliant. He alone is worth watching for. The other guys have their moments, but he’s the gold.
there were some episodes in season four...
Where they really almost took him off the show. And I’m like, what the fuck. He and Lloyd are the only relationship worth watching.

absolutely
I was amazed how long it took them to replace Debi Mazar with Perry Reeves last year, too. I mean come on. Debi hasn’t been on the show as a regular in fuck forever.

Shauna is a good character
And I think she’s well-utilized. A one-note character over-used results in Billy Walsh. And I now hate Billy Walsh, whom I used to love.
Non sequitur, but man it feels good to take off your shoes after 15 hours. Woo for grad school. I couldn’t even watch It’s Always Sunny because I was in the library all goddamn day.
Hooray for DVR!
Billy Walsh is awesome
in the same way that Janice Soprano was awesome, except less so. Totally despicable and wonderfully played.
I thought Walsh’s last brilliant moment was when Drama tried to suck up to him again about having lots of bags when they were leaving for Cannes, as Walsh had asked his driver to get his luggage. Drama says he likes to have lots of clothes on vacation, too. “I’ve got one bag, Drama, ya fruitcup, I took three Xanax and I can’t lift my arms.”

Walsh is a great character
He just got overused. Like, all that stuff with the next script after Medellin (the mountain climbing movie that he turned sci fi) and him locking himself in the bathroom with a bottle and a gun and all that stuff. Too much Billy.
Though he’s better than Dom as a character (Herc! Herc!). lot better
That was a good line though, yes.
Yeah, the scattered “post-Medellin” stuff with Walsh was sloppy and over-the-top.
Dom was on for, what, two episodes? A lame character for sure, in fact that was more than I could handle of him. But I did enjoy how Dom fully brought to light the ridiculously insular nature of “the gang.” Don’t these assholes have any other friends?

yeah, that's true
If you’re not from some shit neighborhood in Queens you aren’t worth knowing.
I heard a rumor Dom is coming back. Which is weird, because I don’t think anyone actually liked him.
It's the same as ever
It’s always been a bit of a guilty pleasure show for me: short on substance and sometimes short on laughs, but always entertaining.
I’ll stop watching when the E-Ari and Drama-Turtle pissing contests stop entertaining the crap out of me.
