9/22, O's versus the Rays at BAL
Well, who really cares what the O's do at this point. I saw David Price a few times at Vandy so I kind have an attachment to him. He's making his debut as a starter today. Even though Price's season stats from his senior year at Vandy were pretty damn good, I almost always managed to catch him on his off days. His control would falter leading him to pound fastball down the middle. Maybe the same will happen today. Some guy with an arm is pitching for the O's. Discuss.

Dude's TALL
At 6’5", he made Gary looks like a member of the Lollipop Guild and even Buck looked short.
And pretty well spoken on camera for a kid playin’ AA ball just out of college.

Zartan says, "Sign Dan Johnson."
I won't mention how well Bass is pitching right now.
Because that would be a jynx.
I’m sure I’m not alone in chuckling (OK, and sighing just a bit) that the Rays choose to let Price have his first start against the Os.
OK David, this team mailed it in weeks ago. Take the ball and just throw strikes. These hapless clowns will just wither away. Oh, but you know what to say in any pre-game interviews.
Price looks good
But he doesn’t look like an ace.
Yet.
yeah, he does look good, not trying to knock him, he just made a sloppy pitch, that's all.

Time to count down until March

Hockey season
I’m waiting on the Caps to remind me why I watch sports. Ovechkin is THAT good.

Red Sox losing
So beating the Rays could be relatively guilt-free
I'm pulling up some Homer quotes that just might be on the clubhouse wall
"If you don’t like your job, you don’t strike. You just go in every day and do it really half-assed. That’s the American way."
I think we are going to
upset the Steelers, gonna be a bruising type game, an we are 3 deep at running back. Very big upside.
Cherry
He’s gonna throw a few decent pitches with movement, but every sixth pitch (fastball, slider, whatever) or so comes in flat. If it’s over the plate, look out.
I feel like cursing
but I can’t work up the energy. Does that make me an Orioles fan, or an Oriole?
since football is creeping in
Bill Ford Jr. has seen enough of the way team president Matt Millen is running his father’s Detroit Lions.
The Ford Motor Co. executive chairman spoke to reporters Monday after a Detroit Economic Club meeting. The vice chairman of the Lions said he was disappointed in the team’s performance and said fans deserve better.
When asked, Ford said Millen should leave the team, but he didn’t have the authority to make such a significant change.
I guarantee you no Angelos spawn would have such guts.
I guess you'd rather walk in a run with Pena
than give him something to hit with the bases loaded. But still…
So one of my buddys from work is in Baltimore
He’s never been to Camden Yards. He wanted to see the Rays. I told him the Os would throw some meatball out on the mound and lose the game, probably with a lot of BBs. He’s gonna think I’m a genius.
It would be nice if Grant Balfour would grant ball fouir
but he seems to throw, ahem, STRIKES. How un-Birdland.
Overall, a pretty good night for the Os
They only lost by two runs against a significantly superior team. The eight BBs are about what we expect of late, as are the silent bats. They only gave up three hits and managed to lose. It would be a stretch to expect anything more. Overall, this was a solid September performance.
15 LOB
We finally get a few decently pitched games, and there’s no clutch hitting
I said at the start of the year
That it would be a miracle if the Os won 70 games. I look like a genius, sadly.
I hate to say it, but I think they will be this bad, or worse, next year.
Huff and Mora, if they’re around, will not be this productive, and I don’t see any pitchers who give me much hope for the future. Liz has shown flashes of late, but that’s about it.
The best thing that could happen is Angelos dies and leaves the franchise to Cal Ripken in his will.
Those darned Sox
2-out rally bottom 9. Ah, wait, Red Sox lose, THAAH… RED SOX LOSE!
I guess we did some good in our own modest way.
