The Answer in Left Field
We all love Luuuuke, but this guy might be an even bigger fan favorite in the Baltimore area. And Luke can always DH.
Yea, THAT Ed Reed. Sure, maybe it's just a pipe dream of his, but he can't be any worse than, say, Larry Bigbie. And defensively? I'd imagine he could track down a fly ball or two.
It's kind of a pointless article, but I enjoyed it. And it kinda pertains to baseball and Baltimore, so I figured what the hey. Enjoy.

If he ever got to third, I’d love to see him bowl over the catcher.
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

Ray Fosse's play at the ASG
would look like two-hand touch compared to what Ed would do…

he could always pinch run.

The last time we let an Ed play left field, he got a ball stuck in his jersey.

Saw it right in front of mine eyes...
…in the only O’s game I ever attended at Shea. What was more amazing than the play was looking around the stadium moments later and watching tens of thousands of people motioning through their sleeves as they explained what happened to the guy sitting next to them.

That guy plays back in the cover one all day long
he has ridiculous range. He could be a major league center fielder.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

funny story
I’m no Ravens fan. I think Ray Lewis is one of the most annoying non-Brett-Favre players out there.
But here’s the thing…I’m a huge fan of Ed Reed. He’s just a great player and I can’t get enough of watching him return it. The lateral thing is a little weird, but I’ll live with it to see plays like his TD return last week.

Can I say a bad word?
Thoughts on Nick Swisher?
The MFY are peddling his wares, he might be cheap, and they would eat salary.
He’s 28… seems about the right age to me
2008 Season
.219/.332/.410/.743
Career
.244/.354/.451/.805
Last season seemed to be well below his potential, I think due to moving around on defense so much…
Games by position 2008
1B: 72, LF: 20, CF: 70, RF: 18, DH: 1, PH: 6
How could he be doing his job when he didn't throw me out of the game after the things I called him?

If we didn't already have
22 outfielders I would say maybe to Swisher. But as is, I don’t see it as necessary.

Truth.
I will admit it, I am just not a big Swisher fan. No particular reason, I just don’t want him on our squad. I was at the game at OPACY when Swisher busted his ankle rounding 3rd for the A’s…by far the highlight of my afternoon.

Kind of like the idea
He had a bad 2008…Big deal, I really don’t think that he’s washed up at 28. Kind of makes sense to buy low.
Of course we’d have to fit him in somewhere. Move Luke to DH, Huff plays first and Swisher in LF. Only problem with that is Luke is kind of a light hitter for a DH.

“I’m a professional player right now,” the Baltimore Ravens Pro Bowl safety said. “I feel like — not that I’ll be better than [Michael Jordan] — but with a little practice, I definitely could be effective in the outfield, stealing some bases and pinch-hitting.”
You’ll need to be better than Jordan, he was terrible at baseball.

Uh
He was Adam Dunn, without the walks, power, or BA, in AA

right exactly
He was a basketball player who hadn’t played baseball in butt forever, playing at an advanced level (AA is pretty good baseball) at age 31 and having to learn how to catch a fly ball, yet as a hitter he wasn’t tremendously worse than Luis Hernandez, who plays baseball because someone thinks he’s good at it, and not because he’s Michael Jordan, Global Superstar Who Can Do What He Wants.
