Gomez is back

Chris Gomez is back with baltimore, it's not a major signing, but I always liked him he seems like a good guy. Also seems we're still after Kawakami even though we signed Kujo, so there are some positives here i guess, right? we seem to be in stiff competition with the braves who have lost out on a number of free agents as well, including their own john smoltz to the red sox, exciting times.

I too was a fan
of Chris Gomez. One of those players who just goes out and does his job when he is asked to do so. My only question is did we not already aquire a so-called ‘super utility’ player in Ryan Freel?? Where does Gomez fit into all of this?
There is no way in hell that the blind can lead the blind...someone has to be the dog.
Come to think of it...
…didn’t we already sign a utility guy even before we got Freel? Are we fielding a team of utility subs?

Seriously?
Gomez is fine as a backup, but he’s not a credible starter for any length of time.
His signing signals that MacPhail wanted a utility infielder who can actually play SS.
I DO think that Roberts will be traded, but I’m not sure how Gomez makes that any easier or more likely.
In case Freel doesn't work out
I’m guessing they see Gomez as an acceptable level of almost-mediocrity at the position.

like our entire infield
minus Mora and his playoff experience

Nothing wrong with Gomez
as a utility guy. My guess is Freel fits in as starting 2B after we trade Roberts, though.

Adam Jones is the tits.
the best part of this signing
is that i wont have to watch fahey this season
as much as i love his ‘heart’… fahey is worthless
does this worry anyone into thinking Brob is gone now that we have backup 2nd basemen? :(

Don't worry
Ryan “Hustly McDirt” Freel will more than make up for Fahey’s “heart.” Also his “grit.” Even his “hustle” and his “determination” and his “willingness to do anything to help the team win.”
Fortunately Freel isn’t quite as bad as Fahey.

i'm not "worried"
if we arent going to resign him, we better trade him. with orlando hudson still on the market though, im afraid no one will offer what brob is worth. if we get a good offer tho, by all means i’m all (well, mostly) for it.
btw, hows being the world’s most famous o’s fan treating you?

It’s funny how we all describe Fahey w/ adjectives that are similar to describing an ugly girl to your friend, so he will go out w/ her on a double date w/ you and her hot friend. Fahey is just an ugly fat chick, in a 5’9’’ 145 lb. body…
But I’m not complaining, it has its perks
I’ll let everyone know where my seats are if the Os ever call me and let me know… and then I’ll begin taking ticket requests…

That was confusing... sorry
I’m home on break, and my mind is not functioning as well as it does when I’m in school, but hopefully the above reply made sense, if you read parts out of order.

He’s got a great personality. Good sense of humor. Fun to be around.

if the Orioles really offered
Brian 10 million a year, in this market, he may be making a mistake passing
Gomez is fine by me
"I decided to become a basketball fan this year and it’s not working out so well because the Wizards SUUUCK. So then I shifted to hockey. That’s pretty fun except there are a lot of flashing lights and horns and shit at the game."
Yeah...
Gomez always seemed like a solid guy — the kind of utility guy who you need on your bench.

Gomez...
…is a professional utility man, unlike the clownshow we had as backup middle IF (and starting SS) since he left. Glad to see him back. It’s nice to have confidence that a backup/pinch hitter can both field his position and actually get a hit in a key situation.
yeah seems like the brian roberts market will pick up when orlando hudson finally signs somewhere.
What up?
or...
brina roberts will sign an extension when hudson signs. the two are pretty comparable, no?
i MIGHT give the edge defensively to orlando hudson and the edge offensively to roberts, though some might consider hudson a bit better overall.
