Your 2009 Most Birdland Player: It's a Tie!
daveh873 came up with the idea. dayzd toe created the awesome spreadsheet. And you guys spent all year voting. Here's your Most Birdland Top Ten:
- Nick Markakis - 14
- Adam Jones -14
- Brian Roberts - 10
- Brad Bergesen - 9
- Nolan Reimold - 9
- Matt Wieters - 8
- Jeremy Guthrie - 6
- Luke Scott - 5
- David Hernandez - 5
- Brian Matusz, Koji Uehara, Aubrey Huff - 4
Congrats to Adam and Nicky!
It's worth noting that Bergy won 9 while appearing in just 19 games and Brian Matusz won 4 in just 8 games. A full season for both of those guys and they might have mopped the floor with Nick and Adam despite only appearing in 30 or so games. Let that serve as warning, Adam and Nick, this award will be a lot more competitive in the future

Wait, if it's a tie, doesn't Joe Biden get to vote or something?
Or is that for the Cy Young?

we need a playoff poll between Jones and Markakis.

Go gorgeous and personality and just plain looks!

Technically
there is supposed to be a playoff now. I dont have time to go completely into it (maybe Dayzd is around…) but its supposed to be a bracked system with 4 brackets. The winner of the daily poll is the #1 seed. I guess this would be the play in game.

something like this...
#1 # of Birdlands
vs
#4 Wild Card Birdland
#3 Callup Birdland
vs.
#2 ZAUN

ha ha Dave if you want to set that up
I’ll front page it, but I can’t keep all that straight. Also how can there be a play in for the top two? If anything I think you have to drop ZAUN.

HOW DARE YOU DEFILE THE NAME OF ZAUN!?
If I do it, can I add a bracketed poll about which O’s logo is the best?
by daveh873 on Oct 13, 2009 7:47 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
if you do
you have to make that a series of bracketed polls. separate fan post for each one.

here's another idea
make Nick and Adam the top seeds and have a play in between the others.
And then ask what my favorite logo and flavor of ice cream is.

why dont i just make a bracketed poll for ice cream flavors?
aside from beer, ice cream is my favorite food! and for good measure, i’ll throw in a questionaire to determine whether or not CC thinks brian roberts is a DOUBLING MACHINE

And whether, in fact, Lou Montanez can hit
and whether we should DEAL WITH IT!

No I meant like the times that they actually had ‘nobody’ as a valid MBP choice….

okay so one get MBP
the other gets the nobel peace prize.

I voted for the one who wasn't ineligible because he was actually born in another country.
My name is Glenn Buckfuddle and I approved this twaddle.

No reason in particular.

I went with Jones.
Even though nobody should get it since we were 34 games under .500.

Looking at the list ...
… tells me not to get much hope up for next season.
No 1st baseman. No 3rd baseman. Bergesen as our ace (and who finished the season on the DL).
If Baltimore makes it to .500, I’ll be surprised.

I don't think you can
keep bringing up Bergesen finishign on the DL like he tore up his elbow or something. I mean, it was a freak play and it’s his leg. Now, I agree he isn’t a #1 but people keep bringing up the DL thing like he’s Mark Prior reincarnate.

First time I've mentioned it.
However lets not assume that because it wasn’t related to an arm or shoulder injury that it will have no effect on Brad. More than one pitcher was never the same after getting hit by a batted ball back through the box. I don’t expect it to be the case, but it is a possibility.

wah wahhhhh
MBP is fun! Not supposed to bring a person down. Maybe next year mid-season call up Josh Bell will be near the top of the rankings.
