Gameday: ALCS Game 1

Tonight's game doesn't carry much rooting interest for me, since I'm not about to cheer for the New York Yankees or lend my support to any team managed by Mike Scioscia. I just don't like the dude. He stole the job of my hero, Steve Yeager, just because he knew Spanish and could catch Fernando Valenzuela, and hit something like 50 points better. Whatever. Steve Yeager could throw guys out from his knees!

I digress. The Phillies took care of stealing back home-field advantage last night from my Dodgers, and all of LA is a twitter with the thoughts of a LA Series with the Angels. OK, maybe not. Maybe they're all more interested in the McCourt divorse and who gets the team. Or maybe over the split of Justin TImberlake and Jessica Biel. I'm guessing it's the last one. She wasn't good enough for you anyway, JT.

So back to tonight's game. John Lackey faces CC Sabathia. Bobby Abreu doesn't think $16 million is enough for the next two years. And the Yankess are considering using just three starters in this series.

ARGH, Suzyn Waldman

"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap."

You know, it seems like it would have made more sense for this game to be in the afternoon

and the west coast game starting right now

"I hate making excuses. If I suck, then I suck. And I suck. That's the way I'm playing. If you suck, you suck. You have to take responsibility in this game. Right now, that's the way I feel. Yes, I suck." - Jose Guillen/quote of the year

if the angels keep giving away runs like that...

….the yankees will be able to get away with one starter.

"I think my motivation is to see the other guys in the clubhouse. They’re contending for the playoffs, and when I see that it gets into my body. I play like it’s the playoffs too" —Memlo

Why

does every team suddenly turn into a bunch of star-struck little leaguers when they face the Yankees? Why, damn it?
