Roch: MacPhail announces Trembley is back in 2010 as manager
Roch Kubatko at MASN Sports says VP of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail will announce tonight that Dave Trembley will return for the 2010 season as the Orioles manager.
MORE FROM ROCH:
"Andy MacPhail confirmed that manager Dave Trembley's option will be picked up next season.
MacPhail said the club will be judged more on wins and losses next season. He had several conversations with owner Peter Angelos, the most recent today.
The front office is satisfied with the way Trembley nurtured the young talent, but MacPhail said the focus next year will shift to the present rather than the future."

Diamond Dave approves

"Well, I believe in the soul, the cock, the pussy, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days."

And I can't believe it. I thought he was a goner.

If the hit and run was a “player”, he would approve of this move.

I'm ok with this
if I see something like this about Mora, however…

I don't mean that in a violently anti-Trembley way...
But this doesn’t seem to make sense. Unless they’re planning a Glen Hanlon type scenario.

I just don’t see how MacPhail could finger Trembley without also pointing out that he too was a big part of this mess. At least this isn’t a hypocritical move. Now let’s see feet held to the fire concerning that win and loss thing.

The way I see it..
Okay, i’m pretty positive about things even though i’m an orioles fan. I see this as the Orioles taking a step in the right direction. The manager juggling is a benchmark of the old Orioles. Putting the blame all on the Orioles is the way it used to be, and now MacPhail is here, they are trying to change it.
What up?

I'm good
Congrats DD, you’ve earned one more year. Make the most of it. Live life to the fullest!

I really want to see them commit to someone
I’m a little tired of these one year deals (I know this was exercising his option but still). I’m not really for or against Trembley, I’d just like to see them commit to someone more than just a season. It’s getting a little old to be wondering the same thing every year.
With that said I do like MacPhail’s quote. It looks like he expects next season to be the turning point of his rebuilding plan. Could be an exciting year. In that sense I guess I don’t mind giving Trembley the one year. I just hope they commit to someone long term next offseason (whether it be Trembley or someone else).

I can sum up the consensus in one word!
Indifferent.

I don't care
How much difference does it make? Plus it allows MacPhail a fall-guy next June when the team is 25-40. This is more job security for Andy more than anything, not that I’m opposed to that.

I'm thrilled
I hope DD works on his in-game strategy, but overall, this is a solida move and just another sign that the ridiculous ways of the last 12 years have been shown the door.

Stability is good.
This season has shown us some sparks of greatness; 2010 ought to be exciting. I think this is a good move.
