Yesterday..
on my way to jury duty I was listening to WFAN (all you NY Oriole fans know what I mean), and this Yankee fan caller was complaining how the umpires had ‘robbed’ the Yankees of big hits and home runs all year. Seriously?!?!

WFAN
is a huge joke. Its even worse than what you hear on ESPN radio. I dont think they actually even have a call screener, because the crap that gets through is simply amazing.

Yeah you know it...
Though I do find the Boomer and Carton morning show to be pretty funny – as long as they stick to talking about football haha.

Schmuck's article
gets repeated over and over and over. The MLB won’t do anything about until they start to lose some serious revenue as a whole due to having less and less fans show up and support smaller market teams.
The argument Yankee and Red Sox fans give now is to point to the disparity in football, and I think it’s without merit. The NFL gives all teams an equal oppurtunity with it’s strict salary cap, but that does not guarantee that your team will not engage in poor management decisions as my Redskins prove year after year. That is the reason for the disparity in the NFL, dumb decision making, where as in the MLB it is plain and simple, money.

Where the hell is the disparity in the NFL?
Remember the Panthers just three-four years ago? The Saints five years ago? The only disparity I see in the NFL is the Lions. They have to be going on ten years without a winning record.

This year specifically
is what Yank fans will point to. The margin between the good teams and bad teams is larger than it has ever been.

But the disparity in baseball
could also be due to the mismanagement of front offices, no? Heck, the only teams in the last ten years who haven’t be in competition for a playoff spot at least once is pretty small: Orioles, Royals, Rangers, Reds, Pirates, Nationals. And the only thread linking all of them together is that none of them have had consistently strong front offices.
(Of course, I’ll be the first to admit that “competing for a playoff spot at least once in ten years” is a pretty awful way to judge the success of a team, but it is also worth noting that there ARE teams that have completely changed their roster cores without a heavy reliance on free agency…they just happen to be the smartest teams)

No kidding
He probably has an “I’m Petered Out!” bumper sticker on his car and probably still talks about how the Bedard trade was one of the stupidest moves the Orioles have ever made. We talk here about stupid Yankee fans, but there are plenty of stupid Orioles fans out there. The ratio of good:idiot fans is probably very similar between the two teams, but smaller fanbase means less idiots.

very true
hell, my girlfriend used to listen to wfan (baltimore) on her computer at work but stopped because of all the idiotic comments the callers made about the O’s (i.e. Montanez being amazingly great, Wieters being a bust, etc…). My gf is quite baseball smart, but she doesnt watch nearly as many games as these people do and she lives in NJ. Some fans just have no clue. Its true of every team.

Just seeing a picture of
Brian Matusz brings a smile to my face. For those who don’t know how awesome this guy is (as both a player and person), you will soon see. Compare his interviews to those of the ever-guarded Markakis and Wieters and you will find a personality that is both warm and genuine.
I know there have been discussions on here about how personality doesn’t mean shit and how it is all about production. I am just saying that it is a breath of fresh air to see someone that can be himself and doesn’t use cookie cutter answers/actions for everything he does.

Wouldn't matter to Steve Phillips...
but the age thing might. She’s probably a little out of his range already.

I would like to add
that BAD personality doesn’t mean shit if they are productive. GOOD personality with productivity is a bonus. I think the argument, or at least the one I made, was that I don’t guys b/c they are “nice guys” or have good personalities but can’t play for shit.

Don't hate!
I was skeptical too. And I’ve only seen one episode, but I have to say, Jane Lynch is a fucking genius. I would watch that show just for her character.

I've only heard one person
say anything about Glee and granted it was a dude but he said it was the worst show he’s ever seen in his life.

Hmm there are much worse shows out there
and the episode I watched was in the company of another chick and a (straight, for what it’s worth) dude and all enjoyed it. But as I said, it’s Jane Lynch’s character that made it awesome. I wasn’t so into the high schoolers’ own plots, or the singing routines, or actually most of the other characters.

Not for nothing
But I’m also a straight guy who likes the show.
Dark humour that alternates between subtle & over the top is tough to get right as it is, never mind in a way that the networks will find acceptable. But this show finds a way.

Count me in, too
I watched it last night. I did watch it with the GF, though, although I think I’d watch it alone. Maybe.

my dad also watches it
He’d been watching it with my mom but when he went out of town for three weeks for work he watched it in his hotel because he didn’t want to miss it. And in the meantime my mom was saving it on the DVR for when he returned and got all offended. Married people are funny.

I don’t think he’s saying he expected you to like it, that would be stereotypical. He’s just saying that you would not get razzed as much as a guy who said they liked the show would…..
