The playoffs can officially begin

The Twins just beat the Tigers 6-5 in 12th inning to seal their fate as the team that will be decimated by the Yankees in the first round. The playoffs start tomorrow with the following games:

Rockies @ Phillies, 2:37 ET (Ubaldo Jimenez vs. Cliff Lee)
Twins @ Yankees, 6:07 ET (TBD vs. CC Sabathia)
Cardinals @ Dodgers, 9:37 ET (Chris Carpenter vs. Randy Wolf)

The Red Sox and Angels will play game 1 of their series on Thursday.

So what are your predictions for the postseason? Here's what my crystal ball tells me:

Division Series

Yankees over Twins

Angels over Red Sox

Phillies over Rockies

Dodgers over Cardinals

Championship Series

Yankees over Angels

Dodgers over Phillies

World Series

Yankees over Dodgers

I picked the angels also

secretly I think the red sox will beat them, but I hate the idea of the red sox and yankees playing each other because I’ll have to hear even more about the most storied rivalry in the history of sports. I also think the Cardinals have a better than good chance of knocking off the Dodgers but I want Flat Breezy to go to the WS.

This has been an impressive decade for the Twins

They’ve won five division titles and haven’t had a losing season since 2000.

Not too shabby for a team with a measly payroll that routinely lets it best players get away.

Dodgers

all the way to the ‘09 WS, and I see them taking on the Skankees, but I see the Dodgers winning it in 7, they have just as much firepower at the plate as the skanks, and maybe the Skanks have a little bit better rotation, just a little. No matter being born in LA (but converted O’s fan here) I have to go with the Dodgers, only wish it was the O’s in the playoffs, oh well like the Cubbies say “Wait till next year!”

LAD is an interesting case. Personally don’t think they have the arms to counter Pujols.

But suppose they pull it off – Torre & Manny winning would piss off NYY & BOS fans in one shot. But does a fan base that tosses around beach balls for 7 innings and then leaves REALLY deserve a championship?

In terms of most desrving fan bases I'd go with the 2 midwest teams

STL & MIN have knowledgeable fans who show up and competent FOs that put no worse than respectable teams on the field every year with only middle of the pack payrolls.

I’m rooting for the Twins and LAASDFQWERTY, and I’d love to see a PHL vs LA series.

I’ll miss most of it though, since I’m going to Argentina until the end of the LCS. Gonna catch a futbol game…FIFA 10 qualifier Uruguay v Argentina if tickets can be had. Because if you have the opportunity to see 2 south american national teams in a 1930s south american stadium, you take it.
