The Orioles have added six players to their 40-man roster: pitchers Brandon Erbe and Luis Lebron, and infielders Josh Bell, Pedro Florimon, Rhyne Hughes and Brandon Snyder. The roster is at its capacity. Teams must submit their rosters to the MLB office by Friday afternoon.

That means Steve Johnson is unprotected. Roch has confirmed he is subject to the Rule V Draft in December.

He's gonna sign with the Knicks, that's what

Lame. I’d rather see Steve Johnson protected than Rhyne Hughes. Isn’t Hughes the warm body we got for Gregg Zaun? Not really a top choice.

Is Johnson eligible for the Rule 5 Draft?
I too was surprised to see Hughes on there. I guess he does have a lot of power and a decent glove.
Maybe MacPhail’s high on him as another option at first/DH a few months into the season, or as a replacement if someone gets hurt.
I don’t know.

Ryan Adams is the new Brandon Tripp, I guess
Honestly, I’m more surprised that the Orioles didn’t leave a spot open so they could make a pick in the draft than I am that they left Johnson off.

Roster moves
baffle me by the Orioles, always have and always will; but hopefully McPhail & co. know what they are doing and are doing is correctly. I know Bell is a lock especially s for 3rd since Mora got the boot, but I will still rather see us go for someone like Uggla and move him over to 3rd if not then to 2nd & try B-Rob at 3rd in the Spring. It couldn’t hurt.

Oh please don't let that happen
Listen, i’m all for Uggla, but only if its temporarily at 3rd and then maybe at DH. The last thing I wanna see is a defensive downgrade at 3B & at 2B just to get Uggla’s bat in the lineup. No thanks. I’m ok with Uggla at 3rd because the alternative is probably Wiggy. BRob at 3rd and Uggla at 2nd is a very bad idea.
