Joe Mauer became only the second catcher in 33 years to win the American League Most Valuable Player Award, finishing first in a near-unanimous vote Monday. The Minnesota Twins star received 27 of 28 first-place votes and 387 points in balloting by the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

Fair choice

They don’t get within a few light years of Detroit without him.

Hoooold on

I’m thrilled with the result, but who’s the dingus that gave their first place vote to Miguel Cabrera? When I saw that Mauer missed unanimity by one vote, I assumed it was Jeter or Teixeira that got the other one…

Then again, it’s pretty funny that the MFY got no first place votes. Little victories.

That also makes sense

A 1Bman who can actually play 1st without pulling or tearing or rupturing something everytime he tries to bend over.

Haven’t seen that in the Bronx in a while.

I’m happy as long as long as Douchiera doesn’t win.

I think

he meant they picked the correct person for the award.
Though I interpreted it the same way you did the first time I read it as well.

yep

Sorry. Guess I should have said “correct” instead of “right”. Or perhaps that that they got both the Cy Young and MVP right. My bad.

ahahahah no it was my bad

I imagined a comma, as in “They got them both in the same year, right?”

When someone from Camden Chat doesn't use a comma

It’s because there shouldn’t be a comma.

It's funny

Because we get so used to being confused by the lack of commas that all of a sudden we find ourselves putting them in where they don’t belong.

Yikes.

That was a terribly worded sentence.
