i do not wish to see him back on the orioles. although he did bring us luke scott, which should clearly make osfan21 happy

Question from an outsider (Giants)
I heard you guys were thinking of trading Luke Scott. What would you want in return if this is true?
Lincecum
And we’ll pay part of Luke’s salary. Ah, hell, I’m feeling generous, I’ll through in Chris Waters, too.

Straight up for Thomas Neal would be nice. Throw in Brett Pill and that’s a great haul for Luke.
Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
Man in Black: Yes.
Vizzini: Morons.
OK, thanks
I just wanted to get a measure of what he could possibly be had for. He seems like a perfect fit for us out west.
Does anyone know
for sure when Bedard is expected to be ready to pitch again? I have heard various different time tables, ranging from the beginning of the season all the way to the all star break.
That is a pretty serious gap and I wouldn’t be cool with signing him if the wait is too long.
mid-season I've heard
why wouldn’t you be cool with waiting? what do the O’s have to lose?

depends if they sign another pitcher
it would be bad if they designated bedard the “veteran pitcher we need” and he’s not available before june, which somehow becomes july.
as long as he isn’t considered “the answer”, i’m fine with waiting.

well yeah
I can’t really imagine that’s what they’d do.

differing reports
I read a yahoo report last month that indicated he’d be ready by OD, but I haven’t seen anything recently. You would figure this information would be out there by now if he was going to be ready by opening day though.
I did read somewhere that Ben Sheets agent said he’d be ready to go in the spring. Of course, this is also the guy that presumably recommended that sheets not accept arbitration from the brewers, so he seems a shade on the optimistic side.

Kam Mickolio.
I think he would make an excellent closer. Koji is probably the best option, but I think he would do real well as a 2-3 inning guy.

thing is...
we already have a pretty good 2-3 inning guy in Mark Hendrickson, and we’ll probably see Berken and/or Hernandez also in the bullpen – both of those guys can also go multiple innings. also, it might be a lot to ask of Mickolio, who hasn’t pitched a full season of major league baseball, to slot in as the closer immediately. while, for example, George Sherrill was never a closer before, he did have the equivalent of 2 full seasons as a ML reliever for the Mariners.
True.
You do raise a good point and I agree with you completely; however, I still believe he has that potential to be a closer (not for 2010 unless necessary). He could emerge to be like Papelbon or Joe Nathan in 2011 and so on. I don’t know, I just really like the guy hahaha. Has a ton of upside.

me 2
i am sure we could get him on a incentive laden contract.

Yeah I agree
I know he has a huge injury history but he’s an amazing pitcher when he’s healthy, and because of the injuries I imagine he won’t be overly expensive. I’ve always been a fan for some reason, so having him on the O’s would be great.
