Some news! Clipped just for you.
Rowell's big chance
Great, MORE crap about Billy Rowell.
Orioles make strides in signing international amateurs -- baltimoresun.com
It gets talked about a lot regarding an area of shortfall for the O's, but it appears as though Andy MacPhail is improving international scouting.
Roch talks first base
Complete with corny jokes!
Today's picture is from April 26, 2009, Brad Bergesen had one of his few poor outings on this day, giving up 5 ER on 3 HR in just 4 innings, but luckily the top of the order picked him up. Brian Roberts, Adam Jones, and Nick Markakis reached base a combined total of 11 times with Roberts and Jones hitting home runs. . The Orioles won 8-5, the only win the O's would get in the series. They preferred to spend the other three days letting Ian Kinsler have his way with them. Box Score - Game Thread - Recap

I'm tired of Billy Rowell too.
Even if he IS only 21, it seems like he just doesn’t get it. Moving him to Bowie to play 1B confuses me, too. I thought Brandon Snyder and Rhyne Hughes were playing 1B in Norfolk and Brandon Waring was going to be the 1B in Bowie. Maybe having Rowell DH for awhile might be an ok idea, but I sure hope they aren’t going to ask Waring to play 3B. I understand he is not good at it.
Ditto
If Rowell were not a first round draft choice, he would not be advancing to Bowie. Management is placing him in AA for want of any other options. Having seen Rowell’s ineptitude at Frederick, Management is loathe to return him there. Management does not want to demote Rowell to Delmarva, although I personally believe that a demotion would be the best thing for him. If he can’t hit at Frederick, why should one believe that he will hit better pitching in AA ball.
I agree
Although the kid just doesnt try it seems.
Id be pleased if he could rebound. He was picked one pick ahead of Tim Lincecum!!!!!!

Meanwhile, back at Titov Getting His Brains Beaten Out in the Bowl Pools...light at the end of the tunnel?
Yes, after an inglorious basterdly start — hey, opening 0-7 would’ve had you with one leg out the window, too — the Meineke, Emerald and Music City Bowls have all come in on schedule, so hope is once again springing eternal.
I’m gonna say even by Jan. 1, then pure gravy thru the BushwahCS Champeenship, after which we can have another discussion about which team is in fact the best in the country and, of course, which conference.
Hint re the latter: What does nat’l media coverage of the Orioles and the Pac 10 have in common?

ding-ding-ding!
The most frequently cited “explanation” for this year’s Heisman highjack— what else can you call it when the nation’s leading rusher, leading scorer and Doak Walker Award winner (given annually to the “top college football running back”) does NOT win the Heisman Trophy? — was “Well, he didn’t get enough national exposure.”
The left coast is the Baltimore Orioles of college football.
