(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - MASN, the local leader in live sports entertainment and the television home of the Nationals and Orioles, announced its 2009 baseball schedule which includes 210 high-definition game broadcasts. With expanded high def coverage, the network will televise at least one game in HD every day throughout the season. Each team will have more than 100 games on MASN's new dedicated HD channel, MASN HD, which launches on April 1st.

The Orioles will play 95 games on MASN and 66 games on MASN2. Viewers in the Baltimore area will be able to watch 20 MASN-produced Orioles games simulcast on the network's over-the-air partner, WJZ-TV Channel 13.

DirecTV

Does anyone know if Extra Inning on DirecTV would then have them all in HD? I had cable last year, which is all low def for extra innings.

A related question

If you get MASN on DirecTv, is it available in HD? ‘Cause I’m totally pysched to be getting my DirecTv HD DVR today, and getting teh O’s in HD would be a nice addition. Even if they do suck.

funny DirecTV story

We finally broke down after christmas and bought a 48 inch sony bravia and had the hi-def box put in by directv. well they couldn’t get it right and we ended up with no tv for a couple fo weeks. we also had an ice storm right around the time they were supposed to come back out. my driveway is very long and slopes down from the yard to the garage so ice + steep driveway made it impossible to drive my rear-wheel drive truck. My wife is home with the new baby so I just took her car. The directv einstein comes out to fix our cable and pulls down the driveway and when he is done discovers he can’t get out. My wife calls asking what to do. I told her to open the garage and show the kid where the shovel is. She called me an hour and a half later and he had just finished shoveling my drive enough to get his van out. Thanks directv!

Poor satellite guy.

The FiOS guy probably drove by and laughed at him, too.

Unrelated but

I got my Hardball Times preview in the mail yesterday. Good stuff, SC! It’s a shame so much of the team’s off season activity came after it was written, though.

thanks!

I got it, too. Weird being in a book. I was glad none of my Enrique Iglesias or Skid Row material was edited out.

I was thinking I might do book-style comments on Uehara or Wigginton or a couple of the other guys (Hill and Pie, and Freel wasn’t written by me) here sometime. Or maybe I won’t. I’ve already said it all, haven’t I?

And the deadline was, like, late November, which explains all the missing dudes. Plus there weren’t projections available for Arrieta or Tillman or Matusz, which is why they aren’t there yet Jim Miller is.

But the real question

Will MASN HD be on Verizon FiOS? It wasn’t last year. It made me really mad to keep hearing about it.

looks like....

76 Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic
77 Mid-Atlantic Sports Network
576 Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic HD
1525 Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic
1526 Mid-Atlantic Sports Network

No mention of MASN2, guess that’s going to split time on Fios 1 again.
The Sportsnet channels aren’t anything to do with MASN, and that’s the only local sports in the HD range
Not sure about the 1526 though, that could be promising.
also 577 is open on the current listing, so if it’s going anywhere, I’d lay money that’s where it’ll be.

Getting CSN HD and no MSN HD is such a kick to the groin during summer

Oh boy, I can watch regional college lacrosse and fishing in HD! Let me contain my excitement!

DirecTV Schedule

OK…so by looking at the schedule for opening day, March 31, the DTV schedule is showing the game on two channels – 731 and 731-1 (the HD channel).

It looked

like it was available last year. But I didn’t have HD last year so not sure if MASN was broadcasting in HD at that time. They had the normal channel and then the HD channel. I’ll see if I can tell tonight when I get home.

Sweet

I’m loving this thing. And except for the $150 pole, it was free installation and a free box and I get to keep my old DVR. And the montly bill stays the same. Yeah, I know, $150 for a pole and cement, but I guess the guy’s gotta make a living somehow. And that damn HD dish is big. Sucker’s almost 3 feet across and a foot tall. Have I mentioned how much I hate Comcast lately?

$150!!!

Damn! The guy here tried to charge me $75 and I told him to just leave the pole and I did it for a $3 bag of quik-crete.

Yeah, $150.

What are ya gonna do? Dude go under the house and wired two sets of cable, drilled holes in the floor and underlayment and sealed them. I know, that work is supposed to be included, but it is a pretty strong pole. Besides, my wiring looked like shit, and this actually looks professional. Considering the box is supposed to be $200 and I got it for free, I figure I’m still $50 a head.

Yeah

that’s more labor intensive than what mine was. I already had directv just had to set a new pole that was bigger than the one the previous satellite was on. My work consisted of digging a hole approximately two feet deep, drinking a beer, placing pole in ground, drinking a beer, leveling pole, drinking a beer, pouring powdery concrete substance, drinking a beer, and sprinkling water on it while drinking a beer.

Sounds like your guy actually earned his money.

MASNsports.com

The website has a list of who has the HD and who doesn’t cable/satellite system by system.

Mine (DISH) doesn’t.
