FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- The Orioles and Brian Roberts completed their deal on Friday, putting the final touches on a four-year, $40 million contract extension that will take the second baseman through the 2013 season.
"I think we're all excited about the possibility that it is [done]," Roberts said on Thursday. "It's been a long process, but hopefully in the end it works out and both sides are happy."

NOW it's officially, completely, utterly, and finally done, as done as Nelly's recording career, as done as Federer winning against Nadal, as done as Ugly Betty's ratings. Done. Really.

I'm not that happy

With 4/40. To be honest, I’m not that happy with Brian even being resigned period, but at least it’s a guy who has been in our system for years.

Most people will be pretty content with this move, Brian has grown up in our organization, and we know that we’ll at least get two more good years out of him. Even though there really isn’t a market, letting him walk would still have been much better for our future. 4/40 in this environment is pushing it, though, especially when Hudson got dirt from LA.
