O's Spring Training Dugout?
Does anyone know which dugout is the home dugout in Fort Lauderdale? I'm going to buy tickets for the March 26th game vs. the Marlins and I want to make sure that I get seats behind the O's dugout and not the visiting dugout. I know that at Camden Yards it's the first base side, but is it the same in Fort Lauderdale? I'd really appreciate it if somoene could help me out. Thanks a bunch.

Well
Since all baseball stadiums the home side is first base. And the Orioles are the “home” team this game, my bet is first base side.

When did that change?
Growing up in the late 70s and early 80s, home was always the 3rd base side. Then, somewhere in the 80s it seems, it got switched. Anyone else remember it this way?

when the nationals played at RFK....
their home dugout was on the 3rd base side. New Nationals park is on the 1st base side.

I was watching something
about either PNC or Petco, and they mentioned the home dugout was on the third base side. So it’s not universal.
spring breeze / the green field / tempts me to play catch

It's personal preference
Check it:
On which side of the field should the home dugout be located? How many Major League parks have the home dugout on the first-base side?
There is no right or wrong answer as to whether the home dugout should be on the first-base side or the third-base side. The Major League Baseball Rulebook is silent on the subject. Therefore, let’s examine where Major League dugouts are located these days. In the National League, far more are on the first-base side (12 to 4). In the American League, though, it’s split evenly, with seven on each side of the field. Even the two oldest parks still in use differ on this point: the Cubs sit on the third-base side at Wrigley while the Red Sox inhabit the first-base dugout at Fenway. Can a trend be spotted, though? I think so: the five parks that have opened most recently (Cincinnati, San Diego, Philadelphia, St. Louis and Washington) all have the home dugouts on the first-base side. Below, President Bush has emerged from the first-base (home) dugout at Nationals Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to Opening Night at the brand-new park. At RFK Stadium, the Nationals’ dugout was on the third-base side.

first base for shizzle....
good autograph spot behind the dugout and bull pen. the pen is really good to talk with players and see some major league pitching up close, it has a seperate ‘entrance’ then the regular seats so pay attention to where you’re going. the stadium is old to say the least, it’s not bad but you’ll know what i’m talking about it when you see it. i’m a taller guy and leg room is money! good food, easy parking, access to players before and after the game, no complaints. hell no matter what it’s better then work! i’m going down next week, should be be good times, enjoy!

It all changed when Kiko Garcia had the dugouts switched in 1983. Not sure why but Kiko used to change things all over the world without explanation.

All right, that does it.
I could put up with the shit-talking about our rotation.
I even looked past the badly executed sarcasm on the Cal post.
But HOW DARE YOU take the name of Kiko Garcia in vain!
THIS SHALL NOT STAND!
