XCountry, Channel 12
It was replaced with “Outlaw Country” from Sirius, which, as you can imagine, is awful. XCountry (or Cross Country) played “alternative country” and “Americana” and introduced me to awesome acts like Drive-By Truckers, My Morning Jacket, Neko Case, Ryan Adams, Steve Earle (I watched The Wire after I discovered this station), etc… the list goes on.
Then the merger comes along and all of those artists go away, replaced by jocks who won’t shut up and who make up for their lack of personality by cursing all the time. There’s a terrible show that’s actually hosted by Johnny Knoxville, which is billed as “one hell raisin’ hour of hot pickin’, finger sniffin’, frog stickin’ Outlaw mayhem”. Mojo Nixon has four hours a day to yell “fuck” at me through the radio. The PD basically threw a few Steve Earle, James McMurtry, and Lucinda Williams songs into the rotation to “satisfy” XCountry fans.
Plus, they repeat songs like nobody’s business. I haven’t listened to the station in weeks, but if I hear “Choctaw Bingo” one more fucking time, I’m going to scream.

they watered down Lithium as well. Or as I like to refer to it, the Smashing Pumpkins station. EVERY time I get in teh car they are playing.
There are NO good outlaw, alternative, red dirt, or americana stations on sirius.

Funny, for me...
every time I turn on Lithium, they’re playing Offspring. I mean, every time, within 3 songs.
Now, I like Offspring, so this isn’t a bad thing, but I can see where the repetition of artists and songs would be intolerable.
And I did like XCountry, and now that you mention it, I don’t think I’ve stayed on the channel more than 15 seconds since the merger.
I am glad they brought Boneyard back. Because Hair Nation wasn’t cutting it AT ALL.

Offspring.com – they have a radio player that streams Offspring songs 24/7, and you can easily skip past songs you don’t like. Go to the site, click on RADIO at teh top, and give them a try.
The singer Dexter Holland is a dissertation away from a doctorate in molecular biology from USC. He actually taught college college between tours when they first started. And he’s a licensed pilot. And the guitarist, Noodles? Janitor at the high school where Dexter was valedictorian. He was just 20 or so, but still, quite the pairing.
