Headed to Ft. Lauderdale tomorrow. Advice sought.
My buddies and I will be in Ft. L for the weekend. Going to see the O's split-squad game on Friday, and O's vs. PHN on Saturday. That's all we've got on our schedule, besides some time at the beach thrown in just on principle. I'd appreciate any advice from those who've been down before on what to do while we're there, good eats/bars near the stadium, etc. We're staying at the Courtyard Marriott, I believe. If you'll be there this weekend too, come say hi. I'll be the slightly inebriated fellow with the Orioles tattoo on my right shoulder.

advice..
just got back from there on saturday, stayed at the same place, beach is exactly a mile the hotel front door, good pick!
from the hotel, maybe a 5 minute walk up commercial toward the beach on the left is Zo’s restaurant, good happy hour and grub, good place to watch games, lots of TVs.
to the left of the hotel down federal highway on the right, about a 3 mintue walk, is the Stainedglass restaurant, excellent food, good happy hour, good drunken vibe, lots of TVs.
bunch of restaurants up Commercial blvd toward the beach, several on the beach, lots of little hole in the wall bars with in walking distance.
there’s a strip club near the stadium going down Commercial away from the beach, few miles past the stadium you’ll have to search it out don’t remember the name didn’t get there.
circus bar is good it’s near the stadium and has hot chicks and of course there is a hooters near the stadium as well.
you can tailgate before games if you want, saw several people doing it. $5 to park we got there around 10:30/11:00 each day, watched B.P. and got autographs
Eats
I recommend Hot Dog Heaven 101 E. Sunrise Blvd. They have terrific Chicago style Hot Dogs in a real, classic Americana roadside operation.
If you like Greek food check out Taverna Opa 3051 NE 32nd Avenue, on the Intracoastal.
There was another fancier place people always tell me to try in the downtown section which I can’t recall at the moment. I’ll let you know if I remember it.
agreed, hot dog place is good. had the best reuben of my life at the Stained Glass pub

I was in the area last week
went up to Del Ray Beach for an afternoon and walked into some gelato shop on Atlantic…got free gelato because I was wearing an Orioles hat and I’m from Towson. Apparently the sop owner there is from Towson, too, and loves the O’s and Ravens. He looked real excited just to see a kindred spirit.
spring breeze / the green field / tempts me to play catch
