Orioles Announcers Leave Game. How Strange??

Well something strange happened. It is actually pretty funny, too. I'd like to talk about it. This is the talk. The Orioles Talk, that is. Isaac Barrow, I hope you enjoy this one. Laugh your heads off on this one.

Thanks to Yahoo's Big League Stew blog, they have found that the announcers of the Orioles' 5-1 win over the Mets, left the game on the rain-delay. Guess who they were? Jeff Angel and Fred Manfra. Now these guys are just absolutely funny.

The field got atrociously wet after the duo talked for the first inning. During the rain, Manfra and Angel just talked for 40 minutes during the delay. They suddenly just went home. Packed their bags and did their radio stuff back home.

After the groundskeeper fixed up the field, the game started. Strangely, no one was talking in the booth. Nobody! From Yahoo and the Baltimore Sun, they said it was called an early day by their superiors on 105.7 The Fan.

Angel also wrote a letter to all of the Orioles' fans, including you, Isaac. They said they would have broadcasted the game and stayed "but didn't simply have an engineer or any equipment."

Some fans are upset but don't worry, these two guys look to call it quits or probably get fired by their bosses or something like that. Just expect something to happen. Orioles fans, this is probably some sort of a strange start to a funny baseball season.

Funny funny Baltimore.

I can't get too mad about this

the only thing worse than spring training extra innings are spring training rain delays.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

Isaac Barrow, the mathematician?

He’s an Orioles fan?

WTF? Either this was way above my head or way below it.

Angel and Manfra Quotes

“I know I will help this team broadcast at the big league level. If you look at my record work in spring training, it’s never been very good. I don’t get paid for this. Nobody gets paid for this. You still want results, but you’ve still got to go by how you feel and how things are working for you.”

“I appreciate the fact that I’m here. They’ve given me a good opportunity, and if when I’m given that opportunity at the big league level, I think they’ll be very well-rewarded.”

Actually

I think their bosses told them to pack up their stuff and head home. I don’t think they just decided they were hungry and split. That was my understanding of the situation anyway.

Their bosses actually said as much

to Ray Frager at The Sun.

Dave Labrozzi, vice president of programming for CBS Radio Baltimore, confirms that the decision to cut off the Orioles game broadcast Sunday came from station management.

“The impression by the station was that the game would not be resuming, so the decision was made,” he said.

"Any guitar solos you hear on the record where it sounds like one note, sounds like Meg White playing guitar -- that's me. Any real guitar solo where a guitar comes in and you go, 'F--k, that sounds awesome!' -- that's not me." - Josh Freese
