Adam Eaton Quotes

I just heard a quick blurb on the radio here in Philly that Eaton had made some comments that he was a World Champion and deserved the benefit of the doubt for his poor performances to start the season in Baltimore. I was hoping that this was true, seeing as the Phillies cut him in the middle of last season and did not even invite him to the parade after the World Series last fall.

The more I hear from this guy

the more I want to see him gone.

He's been saying this shit since ST

My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

Yeah. The more he talks, the more he seems like a delusional asshole.

Technically, yes, he’s a World Champion. But, he didn’t even go to florida for instructional league or whatever to stay in shape in case the Phillies needed him as an injury replacement.

So, not only was he not on the postseason roster, he didn’t do what he could have done to help the team as much as possible. (and if I remember correctly, they did have to call a guy in as injury replacement.)

I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

Hey Adam

They didn’t put you on the post-season roster. I doubt it was the Spirit of Eaton that put the Phillies over the top against the Devil Rays.

The BATBOY had more to do with it than Adam Eaton did

At least the bat boy showed up ready for the post-season.

What an asshole. I thought this was the kind of guy we WEREN’T signing anymore. Andy Mac is losing some points with me for signing and keeping this asshole.

You can say one thing for Eaton

He’s got confidence. I can appreciate that, even though the flip remark about pitching for the World Champions last year is borderline delusional. You almost have to have that kind of attitude to keep going out there when you suck as bad as he did in his first two starts, and that probably helps explain why he was able to do what he did last night. It’s that “eff-you, I can do this” mentality that ignores all empirical evidence that he, um, really can’t do it.

Well, the heat is still on

He’s got to keep performing, or the next stop on his mid-Atlantic tour would be the Nats.

Wow, tough crowd.

Giving him the benefit of the doubt, I could interpret what he said (likely in response to an aggressive question such as “Given that you sucked last year, shouldn’t we have expected you to suck this year?”) as something along the lines of, “Forget about last year. That has nothing to do about this year. The only thing I can control now is what I do this year. You might as well say hey, last year I pitched for the team that won the World Series, so I ought to be great this year, which would be silly. So forget about last year and see how I pitch now.”
