Minor League Roundup for 11 May 09
Here is a quick version of the roundup. No time to scour the box scores like I prefer, but I did want to point out a few good performances. It was a good night for pitchers, not so much for the batters.
Norfolk Tides 3, Buffalo Bisons 5
David Hernandez: 6 IP, 7 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K.
Nolan Reimold : 2-4, 2B (9).
Oscar Salazar: 2-4, HR (6)
Matt Wieters: 0-3, BB
Bowie Baysox 3, Akron Aeros 1
Jake Arrieta: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
Jonathan Tucker (3B): 2-4, BB
Brandon Snyder: 0-4
Frederick Keys vs Myrtle Beach Pelicans: PPD
The Keys and Pelicans will play a double header today starting at 5 p.m.
Delmarva Shorebirds 1, Greensboro Grasshoppers 2
Cole McCurry: 5.2 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 5 K
Pitching to look forward to tonight:
Norfolk: Chris Tillman (3-0, 2.52 ERA, 1.16 WHIP)
Bowie: Troy Patton (3-0 0.95 ERA, 0.85 WHIP)
In case you want to get some more details on the games, I get all of my info from MiLB.com

Some more info
These roundups are great, really appreciated.
Tides:
Pitches-strikes: Hernandez, D 107-72 (67%), Mitchell 34-24 (70%)
Groundouts-flyouts: Hernandez, D 3-9, Mitchell 5-2
Batters faced: Hernandez, D 26, Mitchell 12,
Wieters walked and scored on Salazar’s homer. The 3-4-5 combo of Wieters Salazar and Reimold probably puts AAA pitchers on medication right now.
Justin Christian got an outfield assist at 2B.
Att: 4700
Bowie:
They don’t list the pitch/strike count for the Bowie game, but of those 4 hits, Arrieta gave up a double and a triple. Att: 9000

I love the attendance figures.
The Conneticut Defenders are drawing around 4,000 per game but they are moving to Richmond, VA next season.
One note is the 9,000 fans for the Bowie game was at Canal Stadium in Akron, OH. They had a free ticket giveaway by one of their sponsors which filled the stadium to capacity. Akron is one of the best teams in all of minor league baseball. I believe they have lost only 6 games all season. Three of those loses were to Bowie (Both teams have played 12 times already). Strange scheduling.
Bowie returns home this Thursday, 15 May to take on Erie Seawolves.
Thanks Coachof Earl, WaywardO, and of course Stacy for the minors report.

Ever since they
decided to use half of their major league roster to win the E-League title series against us last year, yeah, you could say that.
