Opening Day 1990 vs. Royals on Classic Now!

I didn't tune in until the game was halfway over, but they still have another half-hour to go.

I was in the 9th grade when they played this game. We were starting on the road because a lockout had put off the season opener for a week or so. We were coming off our "Why Not?" season and the Royals had made a splash in the free agent market by signing closer Mark Davis to a record-breaking contract.

I was so excited when I found out this game was going to be on ESPN. It was the 1st opening day I got to see on television. I got my mom to get me out of school so I could get home in time for it to start. When Sam Horn put us up 3-0 I was screaming as loud as I could in my bedroom. Then we fell behind 6-3 and Sam tied it again I went through all my baseball cards to find his 88 Donruss rookie card (with the BoSox).

After we won I went down to the basketball court where my friends were playing to brag about how the Orioles were going to finish what they started last year. Ahh, the good ol' days.

Those were my favorite O's teams

1989 through the early 90s. Probably because I was of a similar age as you at the time and they had young guys I had seen play in Rochester.
