The Orioles have optioned reliever Bob McCrory to Triple-A Norfolk and will call up outfielder Nolan Reimold tomorrow.
Trembley said the decision to option McCrory was made during the game, and had nothing to do with the reliever's poor outing tonight."

I guess there is ample room for Reimold now that AJ may go down and McCrory just stinks
But this should mean that Pie’s Abs are going to take a huuuuuuuge dive, which is beyond disappointing.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
Pie's AB's have already taken a huge dive.
I doubt they fall much further. I’m not ready to call the whole thing a waste, though; he might produce as a reserve outfielder. If he also DH’s, he could play 3-4 days a week.

DHing Pie
Would completely take Wiggy and Scott out of the equation. If Wiggy/Luke split time with Reimold in left, then their worth is being wasted and Montanez will pretty much have to be sent down.
I wish we had just given Pie until mid-June and then called up Reimold; what the hell is the damn rush?

I'm guessing it has to do with AJ and Luke being hurt
more than anything.

The rush is all the outfielders getting injured at once
At this point, I don’t see how it’s possible to maximize any of Scott, Wiggy, Montanez, Pie, or Reimold’s worth. I’m suggesting shifting emphasis to the younger players.

My thought is that
Jones’s hamstring and possibly Scott’s shoulder may warrant a stay on the DL. This would move Pie to the everyday center fielder, Reimold will get a shot at LF and Lou Montanez will take his spot as the 4th OF and part-time DH.
I think we are set with this into early June.

Oh. I thought AJ was worse
That changes everything. This outfield situation was a prime example of a “self inflicted” headache. You had Reimold in the minors, Montanez ready to keep the seat warm and then move to the bench when Reimold comes up. But you trade for Pie and insist he play everyday. He gets off to a bad start and you don’t give him time to get the ABs he needs. You call up Montanez and make the situation worse. This entire situation stinks and it does not give any of the young players time to show what they can do. 2008 you gave AJ all the time he needed and look what we have going forward in 2009. Something has to be done by 2010 if we are going to turn this thing around.

I would like this idea very much
But I’m not sure AJ is going on the DL.

Pee Yay will be in CF for a few games
I’m guessing Lou in LF and Reimold at DH, who will start hitting .180 and piss everyone right off.
Luuke and the Doctor get some rest, got to protect those investments.
Dirtbag goes a triple short of the cycle and gets to sit on the bench, where he plots to poison Mora’s food.

Pie has been having much better ABs the last 3 games.
Bunch of hits, couple walks, and a bomb tonight that just absolutely exploded off his bat. I’d rather see him and Montanez getting the ABs than fucking Wiggy. Even with his performance tonight…
Agreed
However Wiggy is the backup 1st and 3rd base infielder thus he will get at bats if Mora breaks down again. Can Wiggy play 2nd? or will Andino cover 2nd too?
"They are who we thought they were"-Dennis Green
both...
i think wiggs came up as a 2b, but i think from what we’ve seen, you’d probably rather have andino at 2b.

In case B-Rob needs a day off or has an injury.
I remember the play on first 3 years ago that almost ended his career. We could also DH B-Rob some too.

Why isn't Andino being given time?
He is young and at least has upside.

Everything I’m reading says it’s a mild strain and Jones is day-to-day.

The bullpen
“If you don’t have outstanding relief pitching, you might as well piss on the fire and call the dogs.” Herzog
After seeing McCrory be the latest out of the bullpen to fizzle, that quote came to mind. Yeah, it’s one outing, but it is still more of the bullpen mess we’ve seen to date. The Rays are struggling in part because the bullpen is not duplicating their 2008 success (which had its share of luck Assessing the 2009 Tampa Bay Rays Bullpen). I’d hate to see the O’s pissing on the fire come 2011 should the starters we hope pan out actually do their part.
Remember how Bass started out though...
What up?

Maybe
Reimolds just a late bloomer. This could be the start of something.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
-Jack Handey
Reimold can rake!
We did not have a nickname for him at Bowie like we had for Lou but I can tell you Reimold was the key to that entire lineup which had some nice sticks in the 3-4-5-6 holes (Montanez, Weiters, Reimold, Nettles). Sometimes Kommey would flip-flop Weiters and Reimold.

So, how 'bout THAT for a Night of Sucktitude?
I spent most of the evening depressed over the Caps, of course. Still am…Anyway, let’s all say Howdy to another game lost without record, i.e. there is no Blown Hold stat. Sure Burglarson wasn’t much— but he wasn’t off-the-deep-end bad, either. People win games with performances like that. Ask Joba.
No, the game was lost by somebody named McGrory, who comes in, sh*t his pants, gets no notation in the box score for doing so (beyond ERA) and is on this morning’s bus to Northf*ck. The Orioles put on a mighty Albert Belle Comeback — you remember AB: a fearsome run producer who unfortunately specialized in producing them when we were down by 6 or 8, so his value became defined as The Guy Who Could Turn an 11-3 Loss Into an 11-8 Loss — and life went on as before, with McPieceosh*t looking out the bus window in peaceful anonymity when he actually Lost the Fcking Game*, pardon my French.
We have to win tonight. Well, we don’t have to, of course. We could leap out an 8th floor window and save time, I guess. But if we don’t win and choose to continue in this veil of tears, then we need to prepare for tomorrow night’s guaranteed loss (Eaton vs. Greinke: ahahahahahahahahahahaha). Some group therapy maybe. Or the kind that comes from a bottle. Your call.
Talk about depressing: Somehow the Royals have contrived to host a 4-game series against us without a start by Sid. It’s not f*cking fair, I tell ya.
Um, go O’s!

Yeah, okay Dave
Trembley said the decision to option McCrory was made during the game, and had nothing to do with the reliever’s poor outing tonight.
Sure it didn’t – just like the fact that invading Iraq had nothing to do with them sitting on the world’s 2nd largest deposit of oil.
I believe you Dave, I really do.

Who else could they send down?
Probably had to be a pitcher. Chris Ray? Not even sure if you can. Brian Bass? He’s actually done a somewhat decent job.

Wieters misses Reimold
He just hit a bomb in the first inning.
And then there's this...

The Orioles have paved the way for left-hander Rich Hill to make his debut Saturday against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
Orioles manager Dave Trembley said he spoke to Mark Hendrickson Thursday afternoon and told him he’d be sent to the bullpen effective this evening.
Sending Hendrickson to the bullpen is like
giving Andy Reid’s son a pre-signed prescription pad.

wow. thats rough.
an also hilarious. man i sure do hate me some eagles.
