Double-A Bowie right-hander Jake Arrieta was named the Eastern League's Pitcher of the Week ending May 17.
It's a solid choice, to say the least.
Arrieta, a fifth-round pick in 2007, held Akron to one run over five innings last Monday, and blanked Erie on one hit over seven innings in his next start.
I'll save you the math: In two starts, Arrieta allowed one run in 12 innings and struck out 16. He surrendered five hits and walked five.
Arrieta is the first Bowie pitcher to receive the honor since reliever Julio Manon last April 28-May 4.
Manon no longer is in the organization. Arrieta could be in Triple-A Norfolk after the break.

Jake was dominate against Erie
He will not be in Bowie after the break I am sure. Meet the team is coming soon. Take advantage and meet Jake before he moves on.

he dropped because of bonus demands.

Well, my wife told me you look like a dork." Boo Teixeira guys.
and also...
i think there were character questions. he was viewed as potential first round material early on, but the season of the draft (his soph or junior at tcu), he was pretty mediocre.
