It's not just Bergey's single...
He doesn’t walk anyone and has consistently given us a chance to win… and that’s really all we can ask for

I don't consider
making a big huge mess in the 6th inning Birdland. I can ask for a lot more than that.

Let me clarify
I don’t think Bergesen was awful today. But there is difference in not awful and good.

woah how'd I get the first vote?
when pitchers don’t vomit all over the plate I think that’s birdland.

I thought they should have left Bergesen in.
That last hit he gave up was a check swing blooper.

It's tough being a batter not named Adam
I voted Bergy for his pitching plus slap single, scoring a run. My 2nd place was Nick for the awesome triple.

hard to draw positives...
from blowing the sweep against the worst team in the majors. i know their offense is actually quite good, but a loss like that is inexcusable.

Key-ripes! Again with the Popularity Contest and MVP voters! This is upsetting my lower intestinal tract. Which is Not Birdland.
Getting a hit in your first ML AB is about as Birdland as it gets in a come-from-ahead 3-run loss to the worst team in MLB. So it’s Burglarson or the Nuttin’ Option, if y’axe me. In other news:
— Fans of statistical anomalies have no doubt enjoyed the first 3 days of Interleague, which have yielded a virtually insignificant +2 total. It would actually be sort of cool in a perverse way if the NPL “surged ahead” for a while – stop laughing; was 4-32 conceivable before it happened? And wasn’t it kinda fun when it did (Nature Denied!)?
— The NCAA Upstate NY National Lacrosse Champeenship happens today at 1:00, with Syracuse favored to beat Cornell (again). Either way works for me; it’s just nice to see the ACC put in its place, i.e. outta the finals. And y’know what – some day soon UMBC is gonna be there…
- Yesterday, at the Most Storied Stadium Ever Built For Morons, a Noo Yerk Yuckee hit a home run while…breaking his bat. No, not cracked— broken in half, the barrel flying off, that kinda thing. So, is this place the Most Storied Launching Pad Ever Built for Bogus Home Runs or what?
— Guts goes today, so knock wood. Sure, two of those theepeat Yerkee HR’s were outs in OPACY (did anybody break his bat on the first two?), and he finished very strong up there, but still…we’re all ready for Our Guy Guts to show up and…dominate!
Happy Memorial Day— and Go O’s!

Feeling under the weather
But I’m still gonna head up to the game.
I kind of want to see those ugly red hats.

Jamie Walker
Before the season I had a discussion with a few people here about how I was not confident that Walker would rebound this year because let’s face it, he was awful last year. I openly stated that he would directly cost us multiple games this year…maybe as many as 5.
In the beginning of this year, I thought maybe I was wrong. Walker APPEARED to be doing his job. Then the fun began…again. He is right back to his old ways of NOT getting lefties out.
Does anyone remember the fiasco of Carlos Pena vs Jamie Walker? Now Dunn gets him big! I know these are good hitters that we are talking about, but he struggles against mediocre lefties as well.
I know that I am going to get punished for this, but here goes: I would rather see Alberto fucking Castillo in that role right now than Jamie Walker. I FULLY understand that Castillo is nothing special in any sense of the word, but at least has something left to offer. Walker has nothing. He needs to go.
Ok, give it to me.
