Give Dontrelle credit

he understands that Wieters may (will) hit 3 HR’s in his first AB. Most common mortals can’t comprehend such a thing.

I have a banquet at church that I have to attend tonight so I can’t even enjoy Wieter’s debut on gamecast. Though I was tempted to tell my confirmation class to that we were going to scratch the banquet and do a road trip to Camden Yards.

I never had a shot at him

Wieters was drafted at the beginning of the third round in my deep dynasty league. Jones and Markakis were also drafted a little early for my liking.

I did end up with a bunch of O’s, though: Roberts, Reimold, Scott, Hill, D Hernandez, and Snyder.

I took him in the 10th of my non-keeper league, which was a bit earlier than i wanted.

but after naming my team the Wieters Hype Train, i couldnt very well let him go to someone else.

From MASN's Orioles Buzz Blog

Here:

“Update: I just talked to the guy in Orioles Productions who chose Matt Wieters’ walk-up song for his debut tonight. I promised I wouldn’t reveal the artist or title, as I share his thinking that it’ll be much better as a surprise. But I will say it’s dynamite if you ask me. Appropriate. Well-known. Dramatic. And guaranteed to get you cheering on your feet with goosebumps on your arms.

Wieters’ song was chosen for him after he said he didn’t mind what song they played, as long as he gets to hold a bat and step to the plate. It’s like Brian Roberts said in his latest video blog: he didn’t much care what number they gave him as long as he got to wear a big league uniform. But it also seems to be another sign that Wieters doesn’t buy into the hype about himself. He’s coming to Baltimore to play baseball tonight. Simple as that."
