I had the least Birdland day ever

All kinds of awful things at work keeping me from chilling on CC on the most important day of the baseball season. Every time something new came up I told people they were ruining Matt Wieters Day.

On a night of salvation for a small group of avifauna. For the tigers and every other species on this planet, the eventide will be apocalyptic. Anybody use MLB TV currently?

I’m up in New Hampshire for this weekend (damn it!) and am going to buy it for the game. Is it worth getting the Premium? Only $4 difference so I figure if it’s even slightly better it’s worth it.

by O'sFan21 on May 29, 2009 5:29 PM EDT reply actions

I just bought it today too and was watching the cubs game to check it out.

The hd feed was definitely better than the regular, but the regular feed was very watchable. I dunno what it’ll be like tonight since MASN isnt in HD. The multiscreen is nice too if you would ever use that.

by kba26 on May 29, 2009 5:31 PM EDT up reply actions

So you got the premium?

Also have you tried connecting it to your TV? That’s what I’m hoping to do.

by O'sFan21 on May 29, 2009 5:34 PM EDT up reply actions

well since my tv is about the same size as my laptop screen, i havent bothered with that

but the feed looks good enough on hd that it shouldnt be a problem. I would definitely go with premium though.

by kba26 on May 29, 2009 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions

i have the regular

i watch all the O’s games on mlb.tv and I don’t mind it not being premium

by brooklynlovesorioles on May 29, 2009 5:45 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah

I haven’t tried connecting to my TV. I’m in NY so that way I can watch Yankees/Mets on TV on mute with O’s on the computer. Or, in tonight’s case, watch NBA on the TV. But for one game, with Wieters debuting, going premium can’t hurt.

by brooklynlovesorioles on May 29, 2009 5:54 PM EDT up reply actions

Any idea how to hook it to your TV?

"In a couple of weeks or a month, I'll be excited about this team," Dawkins said. "I've got to get used to saying that -- I'm a Bronco." Then he paused. "I'll tell you one thing -- I'll always be an Eagle."

by exitfare on May 29, 2009 6:52 PM EDT up reply actions

I've got Premium

1. Premium is usually about 2 minutes delayed from radio / standard view. This makes it hard when someone on CC posts “DONGGGG!” before the batter shows up at the plate on Premium.

2. Premium is flaky / jerky sometimes. Occaisionally it just hangs

3. Video quiality for standard is truly watchable, but premium is GREAT quality most of the time.

With apologies to Bob Dylan

Oh the time will come up
When the winds will stop
And the breeze will cease to be breathin’.
Like the stillness in the wind
’Fore the hurricane begins,
The hour when the Wieters comes in.

Oh the seas will split
And the ship will hit
And the sands on the shoreline will be shaking.
Then the tide will sound
And the wind will pound
And the morning will be breaking.

Oh the foes will rise
With the sleep still in their eyes
And they’ll jerk from their beds and think they’re dreamin’.
But they’ll pinch themselves and squeal
And know that it’s for real,
The hour when the Wieters comes in.

Then they’ll raise their hands,
Sayin’ we’ll meet all your demands,
But we’ll shout from the bow your days are numbered.
And like Pharaoh’s tribe,
They’ll be drownded in the tide,
And like Goliath, they’ll be conquered.

I’m actually a little afraid of the possibility of Wieters hitting a HR in his first AB. The collective orgasm that would follow such an event on this website and at Camden Yards would be frightening.
