Red Sox
This is my first post, seeing what this does.
Here's my thoughts:
I am rooting for the Red Sox, of course! Go Red Sox!
Next game: @ Toronto Blue Jays, May 31 1:07pm ET
Some of my favorite players on the team are:
Van Every
Youkillus
Bay
It has been great watching the teams play so far this year, and it's going to be great to continue watching them play!

How odd is this post?
Who is Van Every?
by NickMarkaces on May 30, 2009 11:56 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Jon Van Every
I think. I think he is a relief pitcher?!?

I think it's a troll
Or is this guy just such a Boston stereotype that his favorite players actually ARE the white guys?

Having a little trouble with the BJs and Rios it seems.
Matt Wieters broke a bat last night. Nobody knows what happened to the ball.

Here's a random question back at you.....
does half of your Red Sox gear have that just out of the box or just off the shelf smell to it?

And this folks
is why I am sickuvitall. I see that Mr. Thoughts and the rest of the Nation have given up on Big Floppi…despite the fact that they STILL would not have a recent WS victory without him.

Yes very random
now one of us needs to make a random fanpost over at the red sox blog, with orioles information, and mat wieters glorification. I keed I keed! 11:15 p.m.? This Sox fan was probably drinking all afternoon and evening after the PHN loss, and got lost searching the interwebs, and landed here at CC! Thought to himself, oooooo baseball!!

idk about him being drunk
he managed a hyperlink
by NickMarkaces on May 31, 2009 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
hyperlinks aren't hard

i can't do them
lol. for such a nerd I never was good at programming even the most basic stuff.
And yet I’ve programmed MARC tags before. With the help of a well-designed database, mind you.

As far as links here....
Just copy and paste the address. It will show up as a link.

Apparently
their 2nd favorite team is the O’s, according to their profile. Guess they just got mixed up. Either that or they thought we’d care that their favorite player is Jon Van Every (who by the way is a CF’er, not a pitcher. He pitched to a few batters in a game they got crushed in though).

This is my first post, seeing what this does.
Preview is your friend. It’s really the best way to “see what this does” before hitting the “post” button, which lets everyone else see what a maroon you are.

I think Tetris meant it as a joke
Tetris was playing on the fact that Z said maroon and called the poster a moron indirectly. Its a funny, see?
Explaining jokes should be banned in the contiguous 48.

Who the hell is recommending all of these useless fanposts?

Or just make it so that it takes more than 2 recommendations to "sticky" a post
This guy probably just created a couple alternate accounts.

I like the two-rec threshold
I just wish the rec’ing system was more like Reddit – where you can either up-vote or down-vote a post based on its quality or your own preconceived biases.
by PhilR8 on Jun 2, 2009 12:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I'm not sure of the rules
But I think that only 5 posts will be stickied at a time, and 2 is the least you need. So if you have 5 posts with 3 or more recs, the 2 rec’d posts will drop off. I also like the idea of thumbs up thumbs down.

I rec'd it a while back
I like the knucklehead red sox fans. These kind of guys help me keep my daughter an O’s fan while we live in MA. She’s pretty sensible and all I have to do is point out the knuckleheads to keep her thinking this is not a team worth rooting for. The best ever scenario was seeing a bunch of drunk frat boy types in their Boston hats walking in Baltimore yelling how everything “sucked”. That one episode has done a world of good.
Next up I still need to get her to pick her own crab so she’s not lost in the family crab fests.

Frat boys in Boson hats walking around drunk
Is there anything worse? Not really. Ok, maybe Sidney Ponson in a thong, but not much else.

good luck driving around that hell hole...
of course the only time I went was right in the middle of “The Big Dig,” so that might be why.

The Big Dig lasted like 20 years didn't it?
So, that’s a pretty big window. Now you just need to watch out for falling ceiling tiles in the tunnels.

I had three years of these special kind of hell
in Boston. I rooted for the Red Sox in the ‘04 playoffs, but after a year living there, I couldn’t stand (most of) the fans anymore.

I also rooted for them in '04
I was in full anti-yankee mode back then, and Boston seemed kind of likable.
by PhilR8 on Jun 2, 2009 9:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I rooted for them against the Yanks
after that, I was semi against them, although I figured if they won maybe the fans would become less obnoxious due to all the curse crap and whatnot.
If I had only known…
