I think it's mental.
When runners get on, it becomes “acceptable” to strike out or fly out. If Jones strikes out, he’s young. If he gets a hit, it’s “oh look at the upside.” If Mora gets an out, he’s old. If he gets a hit, it’s “oh look he’s a second half hitter.” The truth is that the Orioles have a history of being bad. After a while, it becomes the norm that they start to buy into the fact that they’re not very good.
That’s a managers fault. It’s a mindset.
