Anyone making the trip to Philly?
I will def. be there Friday and just may make the trip Sunday (I haven't looked at the pitching match-up or anything, and I only have tickets for Friday as of now, so we'll see). I don't know exactly where i'm sitting, but I believe its in the 400's way up on the 3rd base line. I'll find out for sure when I get them. If anybody whats to say hey or maybe grab a beer pre-game or something to that effect, let me know. I'll be with a pseudo-Phillies fan and i'm afraid for my life as I despise fans of teams from Philidelphia. Should be fun!

Will be there for all three games
I have seats for all three games – waiting for exact seats for Sunday.Tenth row 111 for Friday and Saturday…sunday will be somewhere in the outfield.
What time are you heading up Friday?
Could meet @ Nicks for a sandwich or whatever?
Let me know.
Saturday I have a freinds bday party to go in the afternoon, so my arrival time will be close to first pitch, and Sunday the wife will be along and she is already grumpy about the trip so meeting a cc’er wopuldn’t be a wise move…

Friday
i’ll be coming from a game of paintball before hand. My buddy lives in central Jersey so he’s kinda planning the trip. I’ll let you know more as we get closer to game day, but i’m sure we’ll wanna eat before the game. I’ve never actually gone to a game in Philly so I dont know the area that well.

Well, it ain't Camden Yards
Outside food is not allowed, so if you’re going to eat I would grab before you go in.
We always hit a sandwich shop before heading into the “Bank”, and if you guys are heading in from Central NJ, I would recommend Tony Luke’s, just about 11/2 mile from the park…right off 95 and the bridges to Jersey.
You can check them out here – great food-
Let me know if you wanna meet up..we try and get here around 5:30 and grab a picninc table.

I may be in the house Friday... somewhere
A good buddy of mine lives around Philly and is trying to talk me into coming up for the Friday game, if I can swing the trip. Probably won’t be there with much time to spare though, so I’m not sure I can agree to meet anywhere anyway. I have driven past Philly a lot of times but never really stopped there, so I don’t know much about it either.
Still, at least you won’t be the only one in hostile territory. I’m going to be loud and proud, and hopefully I don’t encounter any of the hospitality for which Philly fans are supposed to be legendary. :P

I say this all of the time
Philly fans are NOT that bad. Like any city, there is a small, but vocal sect of obnoxious fans who you’d rather do without.

You're right ....
it is the mostly the Eagles fans.
Who else has a court and jail within the confines of their stadium.
However, I loved when they beat up Chief Z – the Redskins mascot when he went there for a Deadskins vs Eagles game. Hate the deadskins!!!

You’re probably going to get made fun of, but that’s it. Phillies fans don’t really dislike the Orioles, I don’t think.
I’ve been to a lot of Phillies games at both stadiums and the only times I’ve seen it get nasty is when the Mets are in town. (And so I’ve deliberately avoided those games this year, so they might have it a little more under control).
The reputation of Philly fans is badly overblown. (Santa’s not real, anyway) I think every city has a small minority of jackass fans.
I wonder if I can bill Jeff Lurie and Peter Angelos for the years of therapy their teams are going to put me through.

I went to a Phillies-Braves game earlier this year. There were Braves fans sitting in our section and they got heckled a little bit, but nothing I’d consider inappropriate or crude or over the top. My friend and I were a little disappointed because we’d heard so much about Philly fans and were hoping to see a fight.

Thats the media
For some reason they hate Philly…Everyone doesn’t mention the santa thing happenned in 1967! At Franklin Field!! I mean i can’t stand the Eagles but boy does the media still hold on to that! Perfect example, you NEVER hear anything about Cubs fans who attacked that bullpen player a few years back or detroit fans who got in a brawl with the pacers…But Anyway I’ve been to a game every series the Phils/O’s have played either at Camden Yards or in philly and its always fun. I always meet O’s fans(I always root for the Phils, sorry ccers but their my favorite team) and tell them that 159 games out of the year I’m an O’s fan too. I’ve never seen any issues with Phils/O’s fans.

Can be a bit rough as well. But yeah, if you can take a little bit of heckling, you shouldn’t have a problem.

god bless you die hard oriole fans. how you can watch 10 straight years of the worst baseball in modern day history is simply amazing. to travel to another state to see it? astounding. for your sake i hope they trade Huff for pitching, Wieters for a hitting catcher (he makes Zaun look like Yogi Berra), Mora for someone who’s awake.
we have the dullest, uninspired veterans ever. between mora and huff you might get a loud yawn. gotta go. the outfield is set, the pitching is typical oriole garbage coming up from bad farm coaching, the infield is not solidified and Huff will probably be with the Mets soon.
Wigginton is another Pete Incavilia (sp?). Cut the vets and go shopping again. last is last is last so you may as well have fun. at least fahey was interesting to watch as he made couch potatoes think they could make the O’s as a DH…at least.
have fun in Philly. don’t get hit in the head by a broom.

And maybe Saturday. Although, I doubt I’ll be able to meet up before, I’m going to have to race just to make the opening pitch.

a true troll verbally attacks another fan. i am simply making an observation about the wereioles. do you think the wereioles have been decent the past 10 years? do you think mora and huff are exciting players and team leaders? do you think wigginton is a long term answer? do you think huff won’t be traded? do you think wieters is hitting well? okay a 300 foot HR tonight..congrats. do you think you won’t be swept by the phillies? do you think the wereioles pitching is not garbage? whats the problem? i think my agressive post is fair and accurate. they are in last place again and out of the race in early June again.
the only good teams they have put on the field since 1984 have come via free agency. the success of the 90’s was based on Alomar, Palmero, Bonilla, Zeil, Wells, Brown, Key, Surhoff…all store bought and not home grown. then after a few exciting years Angelos realized he can still make big bucks by milking Camden Yards as a tourist attraction for visiting teams so why throw money at top players like the sox and yankees. we get to see them in the yard anyway with their 20,000 beer buying fans. why mess up the losing get rich formula.
this team has some signs of fragile life. adam jones might be the real deal. nick is. wieters is up in the air. roberts is very good. other than that the positions are open. reimhold is a project and very average left fielder but decent bat thus far. 1 dimensional Scott and utility hacker Wigginton can only contribute so much. there isn’t one good pitcher on the team. Guthrie is the new Ponson. the 15 other starters will be gone in 2 years. a bunch of Mark Williamsons, Norm Charltons and Mickey Westons. the “closer” had his 15 minutes. so much body movement for a ball that floats up there. reminds me of Armando. as far as the orioles go I watch maybe three guys hit and then turn the channel and check back to see if the same guys are hitting…2 on the opposing team.

ok, i'll let you know why your post was horible
" [trade] Wieters for a hitting catcher"
- yes, its generally a great idea to trade the #1 prospect in all of baseball after a reasonably poor first 2.5 weeks in the majors (after just 1 season in the minors, mind you). Let’s see if we can get someone like Posada!
“the pitching is typical oriole garbage coming up from bad farm coaching”
- I don’t know if you’ve been paying attention (actually I do know, and you haven’t), but the O’s system is consistently ranked in the top 3 just about everywhere you look. What are you claiming this off of? Hill is a reclemation project we got from the Cubs for basically nothing, Koji obviously came from Japan, and Guts came from the Indians (which we did get for nothing and has given us 2 great seasons for basically free). The ones “coming up” have been Bergesen, Berken, and Hernandez. These are all 2nd teir pitching prospects. Berken hasn’t looked great, i’ll give you that. Bergesen has looked amazing in his last 4 starts, and Hernandez was up for a cup of coffee. Then there are Tillman, Matusz, Arrieta… so where is this terrible farm system you speak of?
“reimhold is a project and very average left fielder but decent bat thus far.”
- first off, his name is REIMOLD, not reimhold. second, I wouldn’t call him a “project”. A guy like Pie is a project. Reimold projects to be an average to above average left fielder. Nothing wrong with that.
“the success of the 90’s was based on Alomar, Palmero, Bonilla, Zeil, Wells, Brown, Key, Surhoff…”
- Really? Bobby Bo, Todd Zeil, David Wells, Kevin Brown, and Jimmy Key were the reason the O’s were good? Really?? I’m pretty sure Ripken, Anderson, and Mussina may have had something to do with that as well, but hey, fell free to omit anyone that doesn’t serve your purpose. And try looking up some stats on how the majority of these guys did with the O’s before you list them as reasons for the O’s "success"’
You obviously haven’t followed the team in the past 10 years, so please, don’t act like you know anything about them. Go root for whichever team it is that had a big enough band wagon for you to join and i’m sure we’ll see you again as soon as the O’s are winning. Thanks for your time.

Didn't Zeille get elected to the Orioles HOF???
And Brown was vital to the Orioles winning 70 games or so in 95.

Zeile DID bat a robust .239 in his 29 games with B'more
and Brown was 10-9 that 1 year that he played with the O’s. My apologies. Those guys MADE the O’s.

okay i’ll chill out..first impressions are my weakness…im so used to being bitter its hard to overcome.
i never said “trade wieters”…anderson just might have been on roids, mussina/rip go without saying but they had the team to themselves for a while and didn’t exactly carry them.
armando was 100mph to the plate where the ball stopped and floated 9 inches to the sweet spot on 0-2. he was the best 0-1 piture in baseball to bad the hitters just watched counting 1 mississippi 2 mississppi and wham!! stupid thrower like cabrerra, pennington, flat bill cap guy, a zillion others. its like the the one thing that can’t be taught is all out pitchers use. because there is no pitcher development just a bunch of fat guys with oversized wrist watches that like to where spandex at 50 leaning on dugout railings across the minors..

Tip for late arriving O's fans
I see some of you will not be arriving till almost game time.So I hope this route I take helps.. If you’re coming from the south, traffic is BRUTAL getting off I-95 at the sports complex exit(#17,sign reads 611 broad and pattison)
Instead Get off the first exit after the airport#(13 sign reads west 291/to 76 west.) Stay to the right and go over the platt bridge. Stay in the right lane. At the second light make a right onto pattison. I ALWAYS park inthe first lot on the left, Its called the Naval Hospital lot.(its next to the eagles facility) It is soooooooooooo much easier in and out both ways. Parking for that and all Lots is $12..
When leaving just make a right out of the lot, make a left at the 2nd light, go straight back over the bridge, stay in the right lane and it turns into 95 south, I hope this helps! I figured this out one day I was running late for a game and its always worked for me. Hardly anybody takes this way.
Welcome to Philly my fellow O’s fans by the way.You should have no problems. I love CBP and have been many, many times, if you need any other tips, please feel free to ask. One final tip, unless you get there EARLY avoid Ashburn Alley. It is absolutely insane how many people go there, you can barely move. All that is there is a store, some food and whiteys statue..The wait for cheesesteaks is always 30 minutes plus during the game at tony lukes..If you want to stand and watch the game..you can at the beverage rails at the top of almost every section.. Enjoy the game everyone!
