GameThread: Mets (32-29) @ Orioles (27-36)

New York Mets at Baltimore Orioles, Jun 16, 2009 7:05 PM EDT

Probably my two favorite baseball mascots. Mr. Met seems like one of those things that absolutely must frighten a fairly high amount of small children. Can't you imagine a horrible dream about Mr. Met trying to kill you? Look at him.

I like when he gets mad:

Ahahahaha. OK, let's move on.

The Mets lost to the Yankees 15-0 on Sunday and have dropped four of five.

Not huge, but good for a Tuesday. There was a way bigger crowd at Pickles tonight than there usually is on a Tuesday.

The Mets announcers claim

That the rule says the hand is NOT part of the bat, so if it hits the hand and not a bat then it is a swinging strike.

If K-rod gets out of this he’s going to have a ridiculous celebration that will make me want to commit murder.

the positive

is Reimold’s patience. He seems to be cool and can go toe to toe with K-Rod

by Tassadar on Jun 16, 2009 10:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Probably will lose MBP to NIck...

But he might get my vote for 2 great ABs

by Johnny_S on Jun 16, 2009 10:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

o definitely

I sort of don’t blame him. But man the past bunch of games, he is 0-1, then pitcher throws him a slider off the plate at his feet and he swings, so he is stuck at 0-2. His protection of the plate expands to about 34 inches, instead of the original 17.

Jones hasn't learned how to be clutch yet...

strikes out on three pitches with the bases loaded friday night. Has a chance to redeem himself later in the game and he grounds out to end the inning. Complete and total Fail tonight. A few weeks ago he hit into a 1-2-3 double play with the bases loaded…

by brek on Jun 16, 2009 10:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

the positive

is that if we don’t make errors, we kill them

by Kooz on Jun 16, 2009 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

"Kill"

Maybe 3-2 without the errors?

MAn i was expecting the o's to take 2 out of 3 from the mets....

frankly i still do expect them to. look what we did to the braves

by Timmy L. on Jun 16, 2009 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Mets haven't been all that impressive this year

Injuries to Delgado and Reyes, not big power numbers from Beltran and Wright. I mean, the Orioles obviously suck, but the Mets are by no means a top team right now. I’d definitely take Philly, LA, and Mil/STL over them. And yea, ORioles will probably lose the series now.

My internet died during Wiggy's AB

so I had to watch the end without y’all. No way I could go to the other room to reset the modem.

Ah well. Silly Orioles.

And damn, we didn't have a hit there with the bases loaded correct?

Seriously, how many times have we blown it with bases loaded the past week or two

by Timmy L. on Jun 16, 2009 10:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

We got a based loaded work. better than before

by Tassadar on Jun 16, 2009 10:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yea i know, we had a walk, and a ground out

which is runs, but we need someone to just bust open the doors sometime soon with bases loaded. getting sick of it

by Timmy L. on Jun 16, 2009 10:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

not even a grand slam (but that's a plus)

even a 2 run single, a 2 run double, etc

by Timmy L. on Jun 16, 2009 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I guess that's what A.J had in mind

doesn’t work out very well for him…
