Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Third baseman Melvin Mora has seen plenty of prospects come and go during his nine years with the Orioles, but the latest two young position players to come up - Nolan Reimold and Matt Wieters - have made quite an impression on the veteran.

"For me those two guys, they can never be out of the lineup - no matter what," said Mora. "Just throw them in there. You have nothing to lose. Those guys need to be hot and when you get two hits, three hits, just let them keep going. That's not my decision, but those guys need to play."

Yeah....

As has been discussed many times here, I really don’t get some of the mangerial decisions that Trembley makes.

It's one thing for us to say it on a blog.

It’s another for your longest-tenured Oriole player to say it.

Stopped clock, you know....

MY point is, he has a bit more of a platform to get the manager’s attention.

Oh I agree

Trust me, I’m no fan of Mora….

Melvin should watch what he says, someone might just listen to him and replace him with a 3rd base prospect that should be playing everyday instead of him.

What up?

Duck, check your

That said, Melmo speaks the truth. Play Reimold and Wieters as much as possible. Use Luke as the primary DH and allow Wigginton and Pie to be bench contributors.

I think Trembley is over-managing at this point, which is funny because in a MASN interview he claims that he prefers to let the players decide the outcome.

On a side note, the LOOGY spot in the bullpen is proving to be a serious problem. I was all for releasing Walker, but that leaves us with Hendo and Castillo (shit!). I am hopeful that Wilfredo Perez will continue to develop over the next year and maybe we can say that we grew our own LOOGY from scratch.

Duck, check your link. It took me to an article about Andy M and possible trades before the deadline.

Fixed

I posted it while in church (yeah iPhone 3.0 OS update! Copy and paste FTW!) and didn’t choose the full-page version.

Melvin Mora

at his age should not be trying to go from 1st to 3rd anymore.he is just not fast enough.
I like Melvin but his days as a good baserunner are over.Remember never ever make
the 1st or 3rd out at thirdbase.

He's been right before

I remember when Mora made a statement akin to “This guy needs to be on the team right now” when talking about Nick Markakis during spring training a few years back
