As the orioles have sweeped the Phillie's which was a huge series and arguably the best series for the orioles this year, I travel to work every day on 33rd street and wonder what people think as they pass the YMCA and retirement home that stand there today. Every day I look over at that great peace of property that has more memories than i will carry in a lifetime and am constantly angered for what has it become. During my lunch break i had walked over there just to look around and as i was walking i could hear the roar from 34 and pat the bugler walker leading us into the stadium, and the old colts fight song being played by the colts marching band. There is an oval shaped walk way that outlines the shape of the stadium and as I walked around that oval i imagined what was once there. It almost brought tears to my eyes and also brought an over whelming sence of joy to me. I mean the people that walked on thoughts hollowed grounds From Jim Parker, Gina Marchetti, Johnny U, THE COLTS, Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken, Ray Lewis, etc. The list is endless. As i imagined it it almost angers me because alot of our younger generation doesn't have a clue as to what when on there. I wrote this article because i wanted to know what people think now of what has become of Our old grey lady on 33rd street. Are you ok with what they have put there and don't get me wrong i am happy that they have put something there that benefits the community but there isn't really anything there that remember what once was.
