Donald M. Fehr, the executive director of the baseball players union who for 26 years presided over the game’s boom in revenue and the bust of its recent steroids scandal, announced his retirement in a conference call with reporters Monday. Fehr said his retirement would take place no later than March 31, 2010.

this article made me think of my unproven theory that the steroids era reaches back into the 20s and 30s.
fehr def. presided over the ERA in which free agents were pressure to take more money regardless of other considerations.

Donald Fehr was too good at his job for my tastes.
Say what you will about Gene Upshaw, but he knew the best place for NFL players was on the gridiron, not at the negotiation table.
Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words—"mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.
