Is this how the season will be.......

I have to keep asking myself and my other O's fans.....are they constantly going to tease us with a 4-5 game winning streak only to go on a 10 game losing streak??? It has happened so many times already, it's like we get so excited and emotionally charged only to have it taken away for several depressing games, and then the magic comes back. Does anyone else hate this spinning circle like me???????

Being an O's fan since I was seven

I have seen a lot of bad games. I’ve seen some stunners. Even the Red Sox and yankees lose games but anyone can be a bandwagon fan. A fan is one who, like your love relationships sticks through thick and thin. It’s not always easy or fun but it shows who you are and makes the stunners all the more sweet.

When I watch them, I don’t expect them to win every night nor do I expect them to lose a game with a 6 run lead (though many of you know this has happened). I do expect them to show up and have heart. Recently the former could be contested … the latter not so much so.

As long as they keep showing heart, I’m with them … and when they quit, I’m kicking them in the ass.

Yeah I agree

I don’t think the O’s are “teasing” anyone, though. I love winning streaks and I hate losing games, but as long as Adam Jones is throwing pies when they win and as long as the players are pissed off when they lose, I’ll keep watching. And when the O’s do eventually put it together and make a run and maybe win some postseason games, they’re gonna feel really, really good. I’m going to be around when this happens and I can’t wait.

+1

It’s going to be so much better, also, for the fans who sat through all of that losing.

If the Orioles get picked up in the year 2011 by Sports Illustrated in like October with like some lame headline like “BRINGING BALTIMORE BACK” It would be weird, because now it’s much different. When you go to a game or watch it with people, you know you’re watching a losing baseball team, and you know everyone is still a fan anyway.

that's pretty much it....

and i DO feel fortunate to have at least been cognizant of them on the tail end of their run as the most successful franchise in pro sports (at least by wining percentage). they’ll be back.

Wow taken out of context.......

Some how I am a bandwagon fan???? I love this team and have and will stick with them! It was just a generalized idea of how this season has been going and how it make me crazy, but it does that because I LOVE THIS TEAM! Go to any Yanks or Sox games at the yard and you will have your fine pickins of BANDWAGON FANS. I’m out.

No bandwagon fan and Red Sox / Yankees in the same sentence just seems appropriate

No Orioles fan could be considered a bandwagon fan considering what we have had to endure the last 10 plus years

I think you've hit the nail on the head

That seems to be the pattern this year. We get flashes of hope with 4-5 game winning streaks, and then there’s some gut punch loss that sends us spiraling into a 5-6 game losing streak. Like the wind goes out of the sails at a certain moment in a certain game. I fear we’re heading for one of those right now, after Wigginton’s baserunning miscue in extra innings ultimately lead to Tuesday’s loss, and the team felt a bit lifeless last night.

It’s frustrating, but at least it’s not embarrassing. We’ve seen embarrassing within the last 5-7 years in spades, so we know what that looks like. Russ Ortiz on the mound, or Deivi Cruz at shortstop, or Luis Matos in center field, or a washed-up Sammy Sosa on the roster… and so on. And our pitching prospects who were supposed to lead us to the promised land are Danny Cabrera, Rad Liz, and Hayden Penn.

In a way it’s tough to let myself believe the good days might be coming. But it sure feels a lot different this time than it ever has since we started losing. Maybe we have to endure some more 5 game losing streaks this season, but there’s finally some hope and some promise for a better tomorrow in Birdland, and that feels pretty good.

I repeat

We knew they would be bad, and they are. This isn’t the year. Hopefully they’ll be pretty ok in 2 or 3 years.

Hopefully when the

O’s begin to win again all those Marylanders that come to the Yards wearing their “Yankees” caps and jerseys, and their “Red Sox” caps and jerseys can take a long walk off a very short pier…..I went to the O’s v. Bo Sox series in 2008 at the Yards and it was loaded with Sox fans, and no one is gonna tell me that 1,000’s upon 1,000’s upon 1,000’s of Sox fans traveled all the way down from New England, some yes, all no. I cannot wait for the Birds to put it all together…. as Kirk Gibson once yelled “Oh, how sweet it is” in our case how sweet it will be……

Not how it will be,

but how it is.

Most of the changes we were looking for have already happened. This team has some real talent on it, but consistency, not so much. It is what it is, until the next round of changes—which I dearly hope Mr. McPhail is contemplating as we speak—or until a clubhouse leader emerges, or until these guys just mature enough to focus, and to catch themselves before falling into the ditch.

agreed....

They are definitly talented, no bout a doubt it, but do you think they can put it together?? I have seen many a team that was loaded with young talent but never could put it all together, hopefully these birds will not be that team or those teams…… I’m extreeeeemly happy with Reimhold, and Weiters looks to be coming on as well and with AJ and Bro’ Nick in RF boy do we have some talent; now all we need to do is get rid of Mora at third and keep Andino at SS and we are on our way ladies and gents, ON OUR WAY!!! Up the O’s!!

by F4PhantomPhreak on Jun 26, 2009 2:58 PM EDT reply actions

Agree too.

Let’s hope this is the team to keep it together.
