O's swat the Nats 11-1...but who doesn't?

The O's bounced back well after being swept by the FL Marlins (where they allowed 23 runs in 3 games). The O's most consistent starter...Brad Bergesen...faced off against Nats rookie Ross Detwiler who was making just his eigth start in his young career.

The O's started off the scoring in the fist when Adam Jones scored on a sac fly by Aubrey Huff. Bergesen retired the first 4 batters before allowing 3 straight singles scoring Josh Willingham that would be the only run the Nats would score. Bergesen went 6 innings of 4 hit ball allowing only 1 ER and 2 BB.

While the Nats struggled the O's who came in batting over .300 at home did not to say the least. Manager Dave Trembley decided enough was enough and switched the lineup to a more favorable one with Reimold in the 5th hole and Mora in the 7th. After much anguishing over Mora's hit-and-runs with Huff on 1st...DD finally stepped-up. The Offense responded by scoring 11 runs on 16 hits..every Oriole had a hit, but Matt Wieters who had 2 BB (and gave us a glimpse of his power, nearly knocking a barley foul ball over the bleachers (with one hand)) and Salazar who had one at-bat after replacing Mora. Most came in an 8 run 6th in which the O's sent up 15 batters...the 6th was highlighted by Mora's double that scored Reimold and Scott (yeah!!...Finally a XBH for Mora).

Baez came on a didn't blow an enormous lead by giving up an un-timely HR. Albers also pitched an inning...Albers has pitched really well since returning from AAA, lowering his ERA to 3.76. Sherrill also pitched a meaningless inning because he hadn't worked since Sunday against the Phillies (who we swept).

Overall an excellent game from the O's...Nice to see that Mora can produce in his new hole in the lineup, and just how calm and collected is Nolan Reimold, in his first game in the 5 hole Reimold goes 3-4 with a walk.

Next up Shairon Martis vs. Jeremy Guthrie...lets hope for a sweep : )

thanks for putting it up.

it could use a little proofreading, but hey, I’m not gonna complain, since it’s already 7am Saturday and no one else has stepped to the plate. God forbid Orioles fans be out enjoying themselves on a Friday night! :)

That's a lot of choices

I guess in an 11-1 win there’s a lot of Birdland to go around.

Last night, which included drinking and going to the game, followed by drinking

I think it was the best day I’ve had in 2009. I need to take women to games more often.

Wieters foul ball was epic.

Tough to pick just one guy for MBP

My vote went to BB cause I have a man crush, but Trembles def was Birdland for finally moving Mora. Do you think this lineup is here to stay?

that's the spec...

roch was saying that the vibe they were getting in the pre-game from trembley was that putting reimold at 5 was not just a one time, shake mora up thing…more like, reimold has proven himself a bit, let’s say if he can take on additional responsibility.
