What do they next three games hold in store for the O's????

Wouldn't we all love to see a sweep, but does anyone find that to be a realistic hope to have? Are we lucky if we get one win? We were down in Florida, 2-1 against the Gnatinals and now the Sox roll in.........Hopes, Dreams anyone?.....Anyone going to the game Wed afternoon? I guess I am going to go solo, just a nice day in the Yard and a Sox beat down, AAHHH priceless.

As much as I dislike them

they’re nowhere near as bad as Cowboys fans

as a fellow cowboy hater

I disagree. Sure they are obnoxious, but they have no ground to stand on, so it isnt very difficult to shut them down. The Cowgirls are horrible. What can we say to Sawx fans though? “Hey, remember when you were worse then us 15 years ago?” Or “We have more WS wins in the past 95 years!”. I hate Red Sox fans with a passion. Cowboys fans are probably 2nd, but Yankees and Eagles fans might beat them out. Rangers and Flyers fans bring up the rear of my most personal most detested fan bases.

And again, present company excepted of course…

Technically...

we have more World Series wins in just the last 43 years.

Just sayin’.

Hopes

for a win tonight when I’m down there with the Dugout Club-ers. Anything beyond that is gravy….

Has there ever been a cooler Oriole than Eddie Murray? I mean, just straight up cool. Like a bad, suave dude. You know what I'm sayin'. COOL. SC 7/24/08

Yankees Fans v. The Unwashed Drones

Yankees fans are wonderful people* who support a team with a rich tradition that is unrivaled by any other team in sports.

*Except for Jeffery Maier, who I would pay good money to punch in the face.

I have nothing nice to say about Red Sox fans. When we were at the game a month or so back when A-Rod returned to the lineup (and the O’s got shut out 4-0), there was a couple wearing Red Sox shirts. So, O’s and Yankees fans alike began to boo them. The guy looks up at us with this look like “why on Earth would you boo us?” Brilliant folks, those Red Sox fans.

And let’s be clear: Red Sox fans, particularly in Baltimore, are more likely to be the bandwagon bunch. We’re talking about a team that hadn’t done a thing in 86 years, then finally breaks the phony baloney curse their dopey fans trumped up to explain their teams futility. Now, look at that, tons of Red Sox fans in Baltimore, a city also utterly devoid of baseball champions since the year I was brought into this world.

Don’t get me wrong, the Yankees have that great appeal throughout the ages, which so many folks find detestable. However, if we’re talking the past five years, I’ve got to think it’s the Red Sox that have the bandwagon fans more so than the Yanks.

Wonderful people???

Have you ever been to the old Yankee Stadium???

by O'sFan21 on Jun 29, 2009 4:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Sadly, no. But regardless, it was the set up to my line about punching Jeffrey Maier.

Actually, the Yankees fans I know are all swell folks. But, again, I never got up to the old stadium.

Also, I can’t seem to decide how to spell Jeff**y, and I certainly can’t be bothered to check to see which is correct.

I LOVED the OF bleachers in old Yankee Stadium

People need to be less whiny when they get booed

Especially if you’re in the opposing team’s park. Try attending an English football match as an opposing fan, then you’ll see what booing is really like.

Huh. I thought the Molotov cocktail was the soccer hooligan’s weapon of choice.

At least now I know what to watch for when I never watch an English soccer game ever in my life.

Except that you can't even stand at english soccer games anymore.

Violence in England has really faded out since the early 90s. Its far worse in Eastern Europe and South America.

There's less violence

but the verbal abuse would make most Americans cry. But for the most part, it’s pretty funny.

I don't know

how the series will play, but thanks for the reminder that Wed is a day game. I was going to sit this one out, but I can’t resist a “everyone-else-is-at-work” game.

Last year’s sox day game was the only good thing Jay Payton ever did… that grand slam off of Okajima.

Sorry bout that....

I should have added a both option! I still hate the extra charge on tix when these two teams are in town-doesn’t keep any of their so-called fans out, since they can’t afford to go see a game at either of their stadiums without offering up their first born for a seat!!! Thank you Camden Yards for sparring me my child and allowing her to enjoy the O’s since she was born.

Every dollar from a Sox fans

Helps us buy that 3B bat next year. And fund Adam Jones’ big contract in 18 months.

I don't like the disrespect that Camden Yards gets from opposing fans

If you’re driving to a beautiful stadium, to a see a good baseball game in our city, you should be respectful. Esspecially when you get in on pennies on the dollar compared to other stadiums (well not literally). I hate hearing about that goddamned FENWAY when we’re at the Yard.

plus you can bring your own food in!!!

that screams “cost effective” (relative to other stadiums)

you can even bring your own beer if your clever :-)

agreed

I made the trip for 2 of the 3 games in Philly. I cheered, sure, but I was very aware of how far I was going. Have some respect when you’re visiting, ya know?

I am going

I am going on wed and I am just preparing myself to walk into Fenway park…. I mean Camden Yards. Sox fans have no respect for anyone, I just hope I get to call a few of them out tomorrow. It is such a different stadium when they are in town, I mean it’s like you go in already angry before the game even starts because of what you know will be there waiting for you, a bunch of Sox fans, most probably only fans since 2004!

I want to move to 2110 Eutaw st.....

Top Road Team Draws

I heard a pretty hilarious stat yesterday on ESPN 980 (DC’s home for the O’s). The top road team draw in all of baseball is the New York Yankees.

Second is the Chicago Cubs.

Third is the WASHINGTON NATIONALS.

Fourth is the Boston Red Sox.

It should be noted that only a thousand or so fans separate first and fourth, so probably only a couple hundred seperate the Nats and the Red Sox. But still, outdrawn by the freakin’ Nats. Warms my heart.

The hosts, and I tend to agree with this, felt that the reason the Nats draw such good crowds on the road is that it’s automatic win night for the home team. I really don’t see why else folks would endeavor to watch that brand of so-called baseball, unless teams just happen to give away toys and jerseys whenever the Nats come to town (see: this past Saturday with the Markickass jerseys and 40k+ fans in attendance).
