McLouth to Braves
According to MLB trade rumors Nate McLouth has been traded to the Braves:

The Pirates acquired three prospects for McLouth. On a related note I always thought McLouth was overrated (he has an OPS this year of .819). However, I should note that he is on pace for 31 HR and 24 SB but from what I have read he does not play great defense in CF and that OPS isn't that great. That being said, his current pace is close to his .853 OPS that he posted last year in his breakout year. Thus, it might be time for me to quit hating on McLouth and consider this a good acquisition by the Braves. He is under team control until 2011 with an option for 2012 so the Braves do get some future value from him.

MLB.com updated names the players the pirates received: starters Jeff Locke and Charlie Morton and center fielder Gorkys Hernandez. None of these are major prospects and none of them made BA's top 100 prospects this year. They all seem to be solid prospects, but just like the Nady and Bay trades the Pirates didn't get a top level prospect.

Well, that should just about kill the Pirates fanbase
Considering that he just signed an extension and seemed to actually like playing there…

Seriously, I don't get this at all
I go to a Pirates game a year in conjunction with a conference I attend each year. What a great ballpark and what great fans (although my Ray Lewis jersey didn’t go over so well). I just don’t get this move at all. Just when they have the chance to lock up a young talent like we did with Markakis, they do this.

Yeah, I really don't understand this move from the Pirates side,
because of the extension that he signed after his All-Star year. He committed to PIttsburgh, and they trade him 2 months into the extension. Pretty bizarre happenings in PGH.

I dont know about those fans
The pirates started fast this year, i dont really know how fast, but it was fast enough that pirates fans were already annoying me about their team. They made it sound as though Nyjer Morgan was the next Rickey Henderson.

McLouth isn't a great player
But man, the Braves’ outfield has been terrible. So it seems fine for them.
Sucks for Glavine that they released him, though.

The Pirates have no plan at all. They never do.
If that team didn’t trade every half-decent player for crappy prospects they might not totally embarrass themselves. Just think, their lineup could feature McLouth, Bay, Nady, Sanchez, and the LaRoche brothers. Now that’s not gonna win a division, but it would be a hell of a lot more interesting to watch than the crap that they’re running out there now.

Adam Jones is the tits.

Those names alone wouldn't win a division (even in the NL)
but with decent drafting and competent minor league instruction and progression, they’d be on their way. Just like us (hopefully).

the Pirates remind me of the Syd Thrift O's
His idea of rebuilding was to trade any veteran with the slightest value for a bundle of guys with no future. B.J. Surhoff for Trenidad Hubbard, Fernando Lunar, and Luis Rivera? Why bother? The one guy in that fire sale who amounted to anything was Melvin Mora, and I view that as a happy accident more than anything else. When we got Mora he was a 28-year-old rookie with a major league OPS+ of 79.

I like nothing more than trading an aging player for good prospects
But McLouth isn’t old and the prospects aren’t good. Damn.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver
