Vote Markakis. Vote Jones. Vote Orange.
I got an email from orioles.com this morning stating that both Nick and Adam are in the top ten in all star voting. It's been mentioned on here a couple times, but I wanted to make a fan post to remind everyone to vote. I know, the All Star game is a sham, but these guys are stars and deserve to be there. Since Cal Ripken retired in 2001, the O's have had two All Star starters: Miguel Tejada and Brian Roberts in 2005. Other than that year (when Melvin Mora and BJ Ryan also made the team), the Orioles have been relegated to a lone representative.
So if you haven't voted the max times yet, DO IT.
EDIT: This fell off the rec list so I'm updating the time so people see it. Check up the updated numbers at the bottom of the comments.
FanPosts are user-created content and do not necessarily reflect the views of the editors of Camden Chat or SB Nation. They might, though.

Mama Jones, Son is BIRDLAND.
I’ve given them my 25 votes from my primary email address, but I have at least four others I can use.

I know that his mother posts online sometimes
And she always calls him Jonesy. It could be the same person pretending to be Brady Anderson I suppose.

By the way
You can only vote 25 times, so it’s not like you have that guilty feeling if you don’t vote 29348729239 times a day like it used to be.
Do it once, please, and you’re done.

How many registered CC'ers are there?
If i remember correctly its something like 200. If half of us do this and actually all vote for Jones and Kakes, well thats 2500 more votes for each. DO IT!

200?
There are probably thousands of registered users, but only a couple hundred regulars. Even still, I’m sure there are a ton of people “lurking.”
If I’m reading “UID” correctly, then you were the 540th user to register, and that was over two years ago.

I'm taking over this post
But seriously, this is something that we as fans can actually do, so please take ten minutes and fill out a ballot.
We really only care about voting in AJ and Nick, and although our fan base is relatively small, an organized effort can definitely get the job done.
There is no better way to show our players that we care about them and the the team than sending Nick/AJ to the all-star game.
Barely filling half of OPaCY every night and not electing our own deserving players to the is not how I want our fans to be represented.
There was visible excitement amongst the players last weekend when we packed the Yard for Wieters’ three game debut and the guys absolutely loved it; let’s put forth a genuine effort.

I'd rather see ANYONE than Jeter
Living in upstate New York, I get so desperate for baseball that I actually will listen to a Yankees game on the radio (obviously rooting for the opposing team). The thing that strikes me is how much the announcers gush about Jeter. Oh man, you should have hard some of the superlatives they were throwing around any time the ball even came near him. Not to mention the one announcer has this extremely annoying vocal tic where he drags out the words ‘annnnd theeeee pitch’. Anyone else living in the NYC area know what I mean?
by NewYorkOriole on Jun 5, 2009 8:00 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
uh yea
John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman are the bane of my existance. Suzyn especially. But yea, i’ve always watched/listened to Yankees games, cause thats all I had. Rooting against a team is almost as fun as rooting for a team. Also, knowing more about a team than their own fans do really gets under people’s skin in an argument.

on an old yahoo email that I don’t use anymore. I voted Luke for the third OF so that I wouldn’t inadvertently give a vote to someone ahead of them in the standings.

Honestly, nothing wrong with voting for Luke
Dude’s got an OPS over 1.000. It’s not a glaring homer pick like Melvin Mora or anything. I voted M. Cabrera, Roberts, Izturis (okay, THAT’s a homer pick, but it’ll prob. be Jeter anyhow), Longoria, Markakis, Adam Jones, Luke, Mauer.

rest have been DH. If there was a DH category on the ballot he would dominate.

Very similar to mine
I went with Cabrera at first and Markakis instead of Cruz. When I was voting the first time around I voted for Jason Bay, but when switched it up to Luke because Jason doesn’t need my help anymore.
NL I voted Adrian Gonzalez instead of Pujols and for the OF I voted Ibanez, Beltran, and Matt Kemp.

The only point in voting for NPL "All Stars" would be if there were a way to vote for Pujols to switch leagues.
He could start in the AL. On several good teams, too. Seriously.

Updated voting totals
1. Jason Bay 1,101, 649
2. Josh Hamilton 989,710
3. Ichiro Suzuki 794,104
4. Carl Crawford 698,470
5. Torii Hunter 660,078
6. Ken Griffey Jr. 654,253
7. Adam Jones 611,624
8. Johnny Damon 607,788
9. Nelson Cruz 603,769
10. Nick Markakis 575,856
The only outfielder that I really, truly think deserves to be ahead of Adam Jones is Jason Bay. Jason Bay is having an awesome year. I also don’t really have a problem with Torii Hunter being ahead of Adam. Torii is having a great year and is a household name. But everyone else should be taking a back seat to Adam Jones.
Josh Hamilton is not good this year, plus he’s out with injury. If he can’t play due to injury, does the next closest vote getter take his place or will Joe Maddon select someone?
Ichiro Suzuki is having a very good year as well, but not nearly as well as Adam Jones.
Carl Crawford is a little bit overrated. With the exception of stolen bases, Adam Jones is better than him in every statistic.
Ken Griffey Jr. is getting the Cal Ripken treatment.
As for Nick, well, he probably only deserves to be ahead of Griffey and Hamilton. No offense, Nick!
For the complete updated voting: http://www.kansascity.com/baseball/story/1243780.html. It is a freaking joke that Adrian Gonzalez is behind Ryan Howard and Prince Fielder.

All Star VOting
I think I voted my 25 times. After a while, it just gave me a pop up window that said “and error has occured for the following reason:”
It didn’t actually say the reason, so who knows?
Anyway, if the good Dr. Jones does not make the All-Star team, it would be a greater scandal than BALCO. Luke Scott in all honesty should be in there too, if only for the Home Run Derby, but with it being an NL year, I can understand him not making it as an outfielder.
