Grant Who? O's May Step to the Plate for Sano
W/ the Gonzalez fiasco in Washington and even our own mini-mess w/ Tejada, it seems like one must tread lightly when courting Dominican talent. As a quick refresher, Miguel Angel Sano is a (reportedly) teenage shortstop prospect in the D.R. Up until this point, everything I've read has the Pirates going after him anf being willing to part w/ an up to $4 million signing bonus.
According to Zrbiec (http://www.baltimoresun.com/sports/baseball/bal-short606,0,5429145.story), Sano worked out at the O's academy on Friday, and Stockstill liked what he saw. You have to figure that, given the "fool me twice, shame on me" approach of Angelos, there's got to be a pretty hardcore due diligence procedure in place to verify this [kid]'s identity, age, etc and I feel like there's not really a question that the O's will pay for talent.
What do you guys think?

If we can pay Walker over 4 mil a season
We can take a chance on this guy who could end up being the next Reyes or Tejada

I'm not a huge Reyes
fan and it looks like his hammy injuries are catching up to him. If I’m not mistaken, he had several similar injuries early on.

Yes: It's not my money, it's PA's
No: that’s a lot of money to spend on a 16yo. Although, if he’s really 19, then it’s ttly OK.
I would make an offer that isn’t outbidding myself or the Gnats. I would also include in that offer a presentation of “Why the Natinals Blow”.

I think its actually the opposite.
If he’s really 19 he isnt nearly the prospect people think he is and is in no way worth the money.

Sano would be worth the $4 million spent on some shitty as 3B this offseason
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

If it is between him or some awful vet
Then i would take him in a heartbeat, however I think I would rather see us sign a few extra toolsy late round picks this year instead of him. If we could somehow verify his age then that changes things, but i guess it comes down to what the O’s scouts think. If they think he’s the best prospect to sign for the money then I am all for it.
